Ex-Smoker Recently: Walked .5 miles to track.

Stretches

Warm up 5:00

(Jog 1:30 walk 2:00)x4

(Jog 2:00 walk 2:00)x2

Cool down 4:00

Total official work out 2.05 miles.

Walked another .5 miles around track.

Added a 50 and a 40 yard dash.

Did four sets of stairs.

Walked .5 miles home.

Total 3.5 miles.

Pathetic compared an athlete , but for me it's a milestone! I haven't done anything like this since high school, - that's 36 years ago! Add 16 years of smoking among other things to that and I'm lucky to be alive let alone jogging and sprinting.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. God has saw fit to keep me on the earth this long and for that I praise Him.

Excellent. I stopped drinking Jan 2015, stopped smoking  after 30 years in sept 2015 and started the programme in December. I thought I would never get there, I would be the one who would fail the c25k. I graduated a couple of weeks ago, had a bad cold and with ms I take a step back until fully better. Last week I did an hour running. Fave tracks Saved by Bob Dylan and some elvis Presley gospel. Oh yes and my zombies run! Keep going

wow, I can not imagine running for an hour! I have never ran more than a mile and that was in high school 36 years ago.  My next milestone is one complete lap around the track. I came late to this forum so I am already using another 5K training program.  I have not missed a day. I actually trained in the falling snow one morning just keep my sessions on track.  I will do this. :-) All the posts and responses here are really encouraging!  God bless.

Awesome Job!!! I am also an ex-smoker.  I quit 7 years ago after 22 years of smoking.  I started the C25K a couple years ago.  It was difficult for the first five weeks but then for some unknown reason I tried and was able to do a full 5k without stopping.  After my first race I was hooked and have been trying to keep improving since then.  So keep me in mind when running seem difficult.  You can do this!  Trust in Christ and God to get you through life's toughest demands.  Good Luck to you with all of your future runs!
