Fabulous cake Siobhan. Here's to another 40 Parkruns. Brilliant!
And if that doesn't sum up exactly what parkrun is all about...inspirational, Siobhan, here's to number 50 - and what a wonderful gesture from Emma!
Just read that and signed in to congratulate her
It's a great piece, well done Siobhan xx
Love Siobhan, she comes across as thoroughly likable and humble. And my goodness is that girl disciplined, up at 5 and always on the go! I wish the people at Stoke Gifford Parish Council were sent stories like these to see what a force for good parkruns have been in so any lives. Like Siobhan's, Steve Burke's story, printed directly below is moving and shows why these runs should not be treated like commercial enterprises. They are giving a low threshold entry into fitness, are inclusive and welcoming and helppeople cope with what can be incredibly hard circumstances in an atmosphere of tolerance. This is Britain how we want it, isn't it? It is community spirit bringing fellowship and encouraging fitness, no fees, open to all. What's not to like about it? It is one of the reasons I'd like to come home, nothing like that where I live.
That is the very same I thought that bolton parkrun and especially emma deserved a thank you and a mention at how good they have been to me with helping me with recovery and just helping me grow as a person, they don't treat me any different than they do anyone else who doesn't have problems, we are all treated as equals there and thought that it definitely deserved a thank you
I felt famous the other day, was walking to volunteer at great run local on the sunday and a guy went past and shouted hi siobhan, the guy was from bolton parkrun,
Take care everyone,
Siobhan x
