Just wondering what sort of healthy snacks people eat... aside from fruit that is. I've recently discovered how much I like almonds and a small handful of those contains quite a bit of (good?) fat and protein. I also have the occasional rice cake (and pretend they're Sugar Puffs!).
Anything else I should try?

I like oat cakes and hummus, cottage cheese on sesame Ryvita, or tinned salmon and cucumber on rye bread. Try mashing a couple of sardines with an avocado, sounds disgusting and has a bit of a sludgy green colour, but tastes great! What else? Celery stuffed with peanut butter, a slice of ham stuffed with low fat Laughing Cow spread and rolled up, cottage cheese straight from the tub, cashews with a little bit of cheese, crudites with salsa, hummus or guacamole...I did a diet called Womens ( why only women lol?) 2 week fat loss, which had all these and more. I lost the weight but still use the recipes and tips.
Wow Curly that all sounds yummy! I seem to have gone back into my bad old habits. And McVities dark choc homewheat are half price in Tesco ... oops! Gotta keep running otherwise I'd be the size of a bus!
Guess I'm lucky in that I just don't really like stuff like that, sweet stuff I mean. Show me a block of cheddar though and you'll see me shove it in..!
My other new found snack which is also suitable for on the go is Organix Goodies Date & Banana bars. They say they're for toddlers but I love 'm and they fit in a little pocket too. Also, Nakd bars.
I get a graze box once a fortnight now. I get ideas for snacks from the boxes, and make my own versions, eg a few nuts, a few dried cranberries and a few dark choc chips (highly recommend Hotel Chocolat 70% dark drops) in a little pot. If you don't want to buy the Graze things have a look at the website for diy ideas.
Avocado..yummy squodged up with lemon juice...Home mixed nibble pots.. fruit, celery, blueberries and anything seasonal.
Love this too.. any time, not just breakfast; it was in the newspaper ages ago,
Apple, ginger and mint breakfast smoothie
Serves one
4 apples, cored and coarsely chopped
2cm (¾in) ginger root, peeled and sliced
6 sprigs fresh mint
1 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
Place half of the chopped apples in a blender and whizz until smooth – it may be necessary to add a little water depending on how juicy the apples are.
Add the remaining ingredients and blend again until smooth
