Week 6 done - big tick :-)

My favourite week on the programme by a mile!

The 20 minute run for w5r3 scared me a bit last week but the fact that I did it gave me such confidence this week. I've really enjoyed my three runs this week as a result, I breezed through w6r1&2 but this morning I was apprehensive again about the lack of walking breaks. I needn't have worried though.

After a bit of a false start with a sore, stiff ankle that took ages to settle and then the podcast messing up and runkeeper being a pain I must have shuffled through at least the first 2-3 minutes of the run but once I found my rhythm it was absolutely ace. It was a lovely cool, still morning down by the beach, my legs felt strong and my breathing was fine. For the first time after about 12 1/2 minutes I got that lovely calm feeling like I could run like this forever. I have NEVER had that feeling before in my life, even through the programme I have been mostly counting down the minutes waiting for Laura to tell me I could slow down again!! I think what it was was that I knew there'd be no rest breaks so I tried to put it out of my mind and enjoy my surroundings and it worked!

So, goodbye walking intervals, bring on week 7 and yeah thanks to Laura I really can call myself a runner now, I never thought I'd be able to say that and I never expected to love it!!! :-D

Well done, sounds like a great run and gives me encouragement to complete week 6.  No more intervals - scary but exciting!

It's crazy but the programme really does get you ready. I didn't honestly think I'd do it but I could and I did! You'll be great :-)

Hi Jenny,

I got goosebumps reading your post. It is a great feeling when you hit the 'zone'...

The issues at the start probably made you extra slow  (shuffle you say)... which left you with plenty in the tank for the main part of the run..

Remember that for next time out and you will be able to ace it again and run forever.😊 Well done. So pleased for you.

You are a 'proper' runner now.x

Thanks Jan, I never know I had a zone before now TBH!! I definitely will make sure to continue to pace myself.

Can't believe how much I am enjoying this running malarky!
