I'll start with the positives, I'VE JUST COMPLETED WEEK 2 WOHOOOO!
That's it for the positives because that run was gruelling. The fast pace last run was clearly a fluke (which I'm glad about). Today was awful. My left shin is in agony so I'm lying on the bed still in my running gear with ice packs tied to it. It's not my shin bone area, it's the outer edge of my shin. Got a long drive later so I'm hoping there isn't much traffic cos I don't think I'd be able to repeatedly press the clutch. Going to voltarol my leg once I've mustered up the energy to roll off the bed and crawl into the shower, then I'm drugging myself up on paracetamol. Beautiful sunshine, horrible run. The thought of starting week 3 fills me with dread. But I've come this far...
I'm not running again until my leg feels a bit better. Next run was meant to be Saturday - it might still be but I'm gonna play it by ear I think. If I end up with a few days longer resting then I think I'll do another week 2 run before moving on to week 3.
Weird feeling, feeling proud and buzzing, but also a little low. Oh well. Hopefully tomorrow it won't be so bad...

Definitely rest an injury, you don't want to make it worse. I have hurt my outer foot (goodness knows how!) and it hurts just to walk on it. I've not run since Saturday and I'm like a caged animal but in the logical part of my brain I know that if I don't rest it then I will make it worse.
It's eased up a bit now. Gonna see how I go. Don't think I'll run until next week just to be on the safe side. I'm going to listen toy body and see how I get on for the rest of the week and weekend.
I've had shin splints before and it doesn't feel the same. Also had stress fractures in both my legs from dog agility and fortunately also doesn't feel the same as that either. I'm sticking with the ice though regardless, as whatever it is, ice and diclofenac gel are helping!
