It is going to be a running Easter and an (over-)optimistic beginning of the "5x50 challenge"
Now I have no excuse: It is going to be a... - Couch to 5K
Now I have no excuse
First parkrun? Will look forward to hearing how it went!
I am a recent Parkrun convert and I am hooked! Disappointed that I couldn't go today or next week due to other things in life but hope you liked it! What is 5x50 challenge?
NOOOOOOO! I was so convinced park run were on Sunday's that I didn't even check and I missed it! What an idiot! What an epic fail!
Well, I will run my personal "parkrun" anyway tomorrow and set a few hundreds reminders for next *Saturday*.
Anyway the "5x50 challenge", which starts tomorrow, is this:5x50.org. There is also a "HealthUnlocked" team that you can join here:5x50.org/team/huc25k-2016
Secan... what a shame...you do your run tomorrow and be so fast next week...SATURDAY.... that you will be in all the newspapers!!!
My lovely son in law is coming to practice with me in one of local parks, in order to, hopefully, do the real thing in two weeks!!!
Go you anyway
Aaaaahhhh! See tomorrow as a practise Parkrun in readiness for next week. Saturday, that is, next Saturday! 😉
D'oh! Ahh well, your heart was in the right place, even if you weren't Never mind. Card looks cool!! Good luck with your challenge, that sounds really exciting!
You could still run today without being at Parkrun.
Today was rest day; I changed my entire week schedule in order to rest today and run tomorrow (supposedly at the parkrun)...
Instead I had a nice (and wet) 15km walk along the Thames path and tomorrow I'll be running the parkrun track to familiarise with it, in preparation for next *Saturday*.
ah. Are there rest days in 5x50?
No, there are not.
But there are different versions of the challenge and you can go for 30min activity every day rather than 5km run every day.
I'm going to do the 30min version, with three 5km runs per week and some form of cross-training (either strength & flex or swimming) during the "rest" days.
ah! Was hitherto unaware of that. should be called 30x50 to avoid "C25k distance confusion syndrome". LOL.
Mind you, 30 mins activity should be 365 (everyone is a llowed a rest day on Feb 29th).
I had a look at Strength & Flex the other day. Was very surprised to see 10 pullups included from day 1. How many beginners can do 10 pullups? How many beginners can do 1 pullup? Seems a little odd.
Yep... that's why I'm thinking swimming might be a better option for me; I have good legs and a decent core, but my upper body is quite weak so I'll have to build it gradually.
