Well that's as maybe, not sure I am meant to though!
I had an odd sort of outing yesterday morning. I got up earlier than usual, to fit in a short and sweet run before my watercolour class!
After the alien abduction run, with my son in law on Tuesday.. I decided to play safe and took old friend Speed with me.. (not the drug like davelinks suggested.. the C25K+ podcast ).
I like it, it's fun, it suits me...and because I can do it.
So, out of the house before 7-15 and away to the lanes. A bit nippy, so a brisk walk to warm up and then off down to the village. Speed switched on, Laura whispering in my ear, all good.
However...
I have had some new running shoes.. not top of the range..not funky..not mega bucks, but a good shock absorbing mid-sole and a bit of extra cushioning, just a sound running shoe. They are white.. which Isn't to my taste, but dirty now, which I is! Real runner!
I have been breaking them in around the house and getting them used to my feet...I love my funky purple ones,( they match my purple leg, davelinks...) but thought I would get a spare set..! Thought that yesterday, a short run would be a good trying out time!
Now as I started to run, a really odd thing happened... I bounced...seriously... each step...I bounced...not very high, but a definite... 'boing' thing going on!
Officially Spring I know...but really!
I tried running with lighter steps, keeping the pace, five minute to the first change in pace...but I was finding it difficult. I actually felt guilty, the words of Laura echoing in my mind, from the first runs of C25K... "... Imagine you are running on one side of a hedge..." You know the bit!
Well...if I had had been doing that, then anyone on the other side would have thought I was jogging on springs!
I persevered, even kept pace... feet very comfortable...not that the foot/floor contact lasted very long ... and before I knew it, I was at Bridle Path corner, having run up the hill, with absolutely no problem at all...me..hill.. yes!
So, ready to head back. I had covered a lot more ground than I expected to. Not an unpleasing outcome. As I headed downhill, the bouncy sensation was a lot less... feet and shoes settling down...I completed the run and walked back up the hill, very comfortable now, and home.
I know without a doubt that this all sounds totally unreal... I am very aware, as are those of you who read my ramblings, that I am prone to flights of fancy, but this happened. I know also, that lots of running shoes have the 'bounce' comfort factor...just felt that this was a tad more pronounced
I did, initially, feel like a cross between Tigger and the Easter Bunny!
I suspect on my next run the bounce will have lessened even more. I shall wear them on tomorrow's run and see.
I have bought also, some new funky leggings... they have a stripe on each leg...hope they are like the 'go faster' ones that you get on cars.
Watch this space....wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
