Week 9 Run 1 - Kept going πŸ‘€

Hi everyone,

So my plan was to rest today as I haven't had a proper rest day since a week last Friday.

But that plan went out of the window when I bought new running shoes on Friday πŸ˜€.

So out I went into the very chilly air this morning, brrrrr.

This time I enabled the voice cues on my Fitbit to tell me distance/time/pace as I was running.

It was very cold on the warm up walk but I was sweating profusely soon enough. The first voice cue came in at 1k at a time of 6,11 and I was really happy with that.

Even the horrible period I get between 5-10 minutes in didn't seem so bad today.

At around the halfway mark I decided to keep running and see if I could manage 5k, provided I had anything left of course.

Before I knew it Laura was telling me I had 5 minutes left, then 60 seconds, then stop running. I glanced at my phone and I had covered 4.63k so I decided to carry on.

2 and a half minutes later I had ran my first ever 5k πŸ˜€ Well 5.01k as I wanted to make sure!

To say I am over the moon is an understatement. So many firsts in one run.

Best k at 6,11

Best pace of 6,29

First 5k I've ever ran

Longest run at 32 minutes 30 seconds

I can't stop smiling.

Bring on the rest of week 9 I say.

Have a great day everyone.

Bob

Wow! Well done Bob, good for you. Fantastic pace - not sure if I will ever manage 5k in 30 mins! (but I know I can run for 30 mins which is amazing). I am starting week 9 too - but busy week at work/home so not sure how it will go! Best of luck with run 2&3......

Thanks Skyhigh, running for 30 minutes non stop is a great achievement.

Good luck for Week 9 πŸ˜€

That's a great run Bob, just make sure you don't speed up too much at this stage as you don't want to end up on the old IC.

My husband was born in Finedon and I've heard him talk about Burton Latimer. I think he had a few girlfriends who lived there!

Thank you Irishprincess,

I'm trying not to push it speed wise honest I am.

He's a local lad then.

Hmmm im sure your husband would have heard of the phrase "Burton for certain" which they used to say about Burton girls! Not quite sure what that means though πŸ˜€

Super, super run Bob.. sounds pretty amazing!

Keep it slow and steady though, ( yep, I know I always say that), but you need to finish in style and as IP says.. injury free!

Go you! :)

Thanks Oldfloss,

I will try to keep it slow and steady but if I'm honest knowing what I'm like it will be a struggle πŸ˜€
