Well pleased I got through today's run.. w5r1. First five mins felt ok after I got in a bit.. kept it slow as to conserve my energy.. ok just managed second 5 mins.. So now I knew no matter how tough and slow I might feel on the last one I would make it.. but wow it was my last strides I had left in me! So ... the 8 mins next run are looking pretty daunting for now... help..or just some experiences from you all to spur me on would be appreciated :) usually come in after my runs feeling elated.. but today feels more fearful of what's ahead :( I have two rest days till run 2 so I hope to be more confident by Monday:) x.

Stop worrying about the future... you did well, focus on that, not what is next..:)

We have, a lot of us, felt these doubts..just trust in the programme, take a big breath and go for it, slow and really, really steady! :)

Go in there confident you can do it. That's really half the battle, because this is as much a mental challenge as a physical one. If you go in scared you're setting yourself up for having a tough run. Your job will be easier if you go in with a positive mind frame. Good luck!

Three 5-min runs is 15 minutes running. Two 8-min runs is 16 mins. That means that you only need to run 1 minute (less than 7%) more next time! Piece of cake!

Genuinely, this is what week 5 does - takes your fragmented runs and starts to glue them together. You will be surprised how well your body is already prepared for them. The only issue is having the confidence to keep going!

Go for it! You'll be surprised how ready you are.

Happy running!

Couldn't have put that better myself.

Encapsulated Week 5 perfectly.

Some runs are harder than others and for no discernible reason. We've all been there and all you can do is move on.

The programme has prepared you for the next run and you can do it. Just lock the gremlins up and focus on running slowly and enjoying the feeling you'll have when you've done it. Go sparky!

It was W5R1 that caught me out too, for no reason really. It has been the only run so far that I've had to repeat and I'm now well into week 7 so doing longer runs every time. I think Irishprincess is right some runs just catch us out. It's fine, go slowly and steadily and think positively, it really is all in the head, I never realised how much. Good luck

Hello and a very well done for run 1! If you've seen my posts, you'll know it's do able, but I confess I had 3 nespressos and a big piece of fudge before I tried it! (my heart was racing more pre-run than post-run 😉)

I also stretched my calves against a gate after the first run and that helped too, as did everyone's support; it really is mind over matter. Good luck! X
