Gorgeous Spring run...and another event entry🏃🏻!

It was my long run day today, so I headed off on to the lovely paths and bridleways here in the Surrey hills. Despite the cold, it was a beautiful spring morning, daffs in full bloom and birds singing around me. Parts of my route were still incredibly muddy - nearly lost my shoe on a couple of occasions in the deep mud (just as I like it!) but I just felt so lucky and happy to be out running today.! The hillier parts of this route are definately feeling 'easier' and I hit 10k in a PB time of 1:01:38 🙂.

Have a 10k 'undulating' 😮 Trail run on May 1st which I know will be tough but I am really looking forward to. Have also just entered the Great Bristol 10k a couple of weeks later which I am going to run with my sister. Have not run in an event that big so should be quite a special day!

This c25k programme really is the beginning of a fantastic journey,if you want it to be. It took me months to graduate, following a nasty calf tear at work at week 8 the first time round. I had to start from scratch again after physio, and there were times during that recovery where I seriously questioned the hopes and aspirations I had to run 5k three times a week. Stick with it, because the hard work does pay off. Listen to your body, don't overtrain, but just keep on getting out there, enjoying your runs and the world around you. I am a 50 year old woman who now feels fitter and stronger than I have ever felt in my life...and I am still setting myself new goals🙂.

Happy running!

having ran for a number of years my experience is that there is no luck in running...... PB's have to be earned by hard work and if it's one thing Ive learned is the more you run the better you become....simple as that!!

Wo, that 10k PB is awesome _ pompoms flailing for you! SOunds like a lovely run. I'm 47 and I'm in the same boat - chomping at the bit to get my trainers on and remembering my first minutes cursing Laura over a year ago for C25K.

Well done Ali, will look out for your race report! Easier for me, because I know my route well now. Am excited but also scared of what may lie in store for me on my first proper trail race in May!😮

Great post of a great run there Sandra, congratulations on your PB, just brilliant. 10K seems such a very, very long way!

Your mud sounds fun, however do you stay upright?! I love muddy runs, much more so than the roads, but slip all over and get really spooked that I'm going to fall and do myself an injury!

Good for you entering these 10Ks, it will be lovely to run with your sister. :)

Love to read how graduates are doing further down the line, your achievements are great to keep in mind.. That the end of C25K isn't the end of the road, but the beginning! :)

Staying upright does take practice! I have trail shoes as well as my normal running shoes. Running muddy trails is fab for improving balance and the strength of your legs, plus I'm like a kid when it comes to splashing thtough puddles! The toughest thing is hills - I have a love hate relationship with hills: I love them when I get to the top, hate them from the bottom😊!

Awwwww - what an emotional & inspirational post. Thank you.

That is a cracking time for a muddy, undulating route. Running the trails really builds that strength.

Congratulations ☺☺☺☺

Thanks Poppy! The events are a challenge as I am not a hugely confident person, but running is making me more so☺.
