Congrats for taking the first step and hanging on in there - and welcome to the forum! Take one day at a time and before you know it, you'll be running for 30 minutes non-stop. Keep us posted!

Hi and welcome. You can do it! Well done on the giving up smoking. That's the difficult bit, you'll be running for longer before you know it! If I can do it anyone can, I promise!

Hello Anthea , and Welcome to the forum and this amazing programme !

I used to smoke like a chimney , it was my passion . It was the first thing I did when I woke up and the last thing I did before I went to sleep, I was an addict , pure and simple.

Stopping smoking and completing this programme are 2 of the best decisions I have ever made , it has changed my life and maybe saved my life too !

Good Luck , keep going , youre doing great and keep posting as its great to look back and see how far you have come .

Well done ! :-) xxx

Thank you poppypug

It's something I've wanted to do for a long time and now I've finally done it and it feels great xx

well done Andrea that's brilliant. I smoke about 5 a day and know I would run better if I didn't. I graduated in October and hope that it becomes a way of life for me

Giving up the gaspers is the best thing you'll ever do, apart from taking up C25k that is.

Good luck!

Well done anthea, me too, gave up last year, used a e cigarette to do it. Now I've given up alcohol too, it's all about the running now, getting out, feeling good about myself.

Hi Anthea. Good for you for kicking smoking into touch. This is much more fun and satisfying. Well done for starting and good luck with your next run. :)

Hi Anthea! Welcome to C25K! I think it's brilliant that you are giving up smoking and starting the C25K programme too. I can't say I have experience of giving up smoking but I would hope for you that the new focus of running will make it easier for you to stop, especially as you start to see the progress you're making! Keep at it and let us know how you get on :)

I just stopped smoking and drinking. No half-way house. Not at the same time though. I stopped smoking years ago but boozing more recently, 10 years approx.
