Just got back from W5R1 and I feel good but I've just looked at what's ahead of me and I must say W5R3 looks daunting right now but I believe if I can conquer that I've got this cracked!
Week 5 has begun: Just got back from W5R1 and I... - Couch to 5K
Week 5 has begun
I'm really nervous about week 4... Five minutes just seems so long after I struggled with three minutes. Maybe a healthy dose of fear helps? You'll do great X
I seem to get nervous before every run, my conscious mind knows there is no reason for it as I'm not being times, its not a race and no lives are at stake but they go as I start my warm up and by the time I'm running there gone and forgotten.
I think I shouldn't have looked at what's ahead and then I wouldn't know/worry we all know what curiosity did to the cat after all.
Have a look at past posts for week 5, run 3 - all of us who are now graduates were scared too! But trust the programme, you can do it. Just put day 3 out of ur mind for now, just one run at a time! Nice and slowly and breathe well! 😊
I had posted on the forum I was going out for week 5, run 3 the next day so as I plodded round, I wanted to walk but told myself I was not posting a fail! Also, if you stop running, you have to repeat it and no way was I wanting to face the 30 minute fear twice!! ☺️
As others say...just slow and really steady.
We've all gone through this in one way or another... my posts for Week 5 scare me even now, when I read them!
Once, as you say, you are warming up and out there, your feet will take over. Everyone will be rooting for you...try not to focus on the end of the week's run..just enjoy getting there!
You 'll do it ... then you really start to feel the rest will come. Good luck
It is hard to believe I know but once you have been running for 5 minutes and you have found your stride and a rhythm, it is actually easier to run through than to keep stopping and starting. Obviously if you get aching calves , a stitch or get out of breath, it is a battle to keep at it but the battle is worth it because you are going to be on a high when you've done it. Take it slow and trust that your body can do it. This is what we were built to do really, isn't it?
Wolfboy, I felt the same about W5R3 but I was wrong. W5R3 is actually a bonus because not only you can do it, (your legs just carry on), but the feeling of elation you get Is unbelievable. There should be a specific word for it.
Week 5 run 3 is the tipping point, I think. Once you've done that, you're basically there. Be brave, start slow, get fierce with yourself if you have to.
