4 layers on top

Tissues at the ready

Mitts on

Cap on

Neck gaitor on

You would have thought I was getting ready to scale Ben Nevis!

But no, I was just getting ready for a 5K around Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh at minus four degrees.

It is nearly 1.5 KM of uphill.

Last time I did a 10K there in 1 hour 55 mins. Today, I managed it in 43 mins 52 seconds :-)

There is ever so gradual improvement. But I am glad to say that I am going in the correct direction :-)

Thanks aliboo70 :-)

It is a good hard run. I would definitely recommend it though.

It was certainly chilly. At least it stayed dry :-)

I would say that's pretty darn impressive progression.

I was in Edinburgh today but not at the run. There were a number of folks wandering around obviously having been at the run.☺

Great job Ash. ☺☺☺

Thanks Noaky12

It is a challenging run for sure. But once you have done the uphill bit, it is all flat and then downhill :-)

Well done Ash! And I bet you had a small hip flask of whiskey on you! lol, your getting there, takes time don't it.

I've been invited to do a half marathon in March through my running club.. No! I don't think so! Doesn't appeal to me anyway..

I wish I had a hip flask...given the low temperature Dave :-)

From my limited experience all I can say is we have to decide which event or events we want to do and then not let anyone or anything distract us from that.

Otherwise that can mess up the training.

We just have to do what we want to do and not what others want us to do :-)

There's no pressure.. I couldn't run a half marathon then any way

Brilliant. Although I'm further north I don't think I've had to run in such low temps but I know the area and it must have been a great run.

With over 3000 participants, it was certainly a great event :-)

Great stuff Ash, did you get a nice medal?

You know something about those little improvements? There will be lots of them! Far better than someone who started off fast...xx
