A week's a long time...

Well a week ago on Friday, I published my 'I've done it' graduation post. Since then I thought I better continue the running or it will all have been a waste of time.

But no way was running going to interfere with my golf habit. Not a chance! So after Friday's graduation I understandably imbibed a bit in celebratory mood. Early Saturday morning soon came round and off to the golf club I went (I have much experience of early Saturday golfing after a heavy Friday night).

But alas, due to the rain the course was closed. So, in a determined fashion I registered with Parkrun, popped round to the in-laws to print off my bar code (because the wife and kids had nicked my papers and used my printer cartridges) and off I went as a nervous Parkrun virgin.

It went well. They're wonderfully welcoming people.

So this past week I thought I better keep it up. Tuesday morning came and my 9 year old appears at 6.15 am insisting he comes with me. So he did. And we had a great 3.5 mile run together around the village. And we did the same on Friday.

My golfing chum pulled out this week so I enrolled my lad on Parkrun and we both ran this Saturday. Most of my energy was spent slowing my lad down but we completed it in an improved time.

My knees ache a bit but I'm pretty pleased with how things are working out. All that's left to do is to carry on in exactly the same way.

I may lose that belly and a few chins yet.

Well done. I graduated on Saturday and am marvellous at finding excuses to give up things I've started so hope I do as well as you. As the best song lyrics say 'keep on running' :-)

Congratulations on your graduation. Got to maintain a routine to avoid getting out of the habit.

What a great first week

How wonderful that your son wants to run with you, and will get up so early to do so!

Thank you. He always gets up early. It's better for him to run rather than watch telly. And he's a heck of a pacemaker!!

Of course you may! If you keep that up you will definitely shed some weight. I guarantee it. You don't need to run fast either as slow runs burn off more calories, which has to be a boon!

It sounds like you have it all going on there Monners. Go steady, don't do too much as you've to build your running legs and it takes time. The golf will have helped you as your legs will have been used to long walks, and I suppose you're used to being out in the elements. It's all good!

Thanks. Yes we've played golf in all elements. Just got to keep going.
