First 10km race today

The day dawned & the sun was out. I was soooooo nervous. I walked to the start, got my chip & met up with a fellow poster on here. She was with a few of her pals & they kindly offered to let me start with them. I had already decided to stay at the back & before I knew it we were off! I kept to a steady plod. I tagged on to a group of 3 runners who were going a bit slower than my usual pace but I decided to stay with them because I didn't want to run out of steam. The sun was beating down & there were a couple of hills - the one at 8km was a killer! After that was out of the way I passed the little group I had tagged on to & gave it my all for the last 2km. My timer told me I had done it in 1hr 25min. For me that's a good time - taking into account hills & heat I'm chuffed!! For some weird reason the photo won't turn round but here we are proudly showing off our bling. No-excuse was much much quicker than me but we both agreed we had a great time.

Hiya Sharon! It was lovely to meet you today. You did so well and should be feeling very pleased with yourself on your first 10k race. It was really hot and you are right about that hill- who put that there! Nasty business! Hahaha. It was good though wasn't it- I hope it's your first of many. I'm running out of time for posting, will put mine up tomorrow with our 'before' pic! x
