I completed week 9 and graduated using a treadmill in the gym. The first run afterwards damaged my ankle (pulled and torn ligament) which meant I had to take it easy and stop running for a few weeks. I decided to go back to week 5 to start up again but found I couldn't manage it so ended up working through from week 1 again.
On Bank Holiday Monday the gym was closed so I decided to try a road run on the promenade instead. To my horror, I couldn't manage this (I was back up to week 5 on the treadmill but could only manage two minutes running outside) I was so disappointed as I had assumed that it would be easy to transfer progress from the treadmill to the road. Back on the treadmill this morning I had no problem with Week 5 day 1 so have decided to carry on with the gym run until I complete week 9 and then have another go at road running.

I have limited experience of running on treadmill's but from what others say the feel is very very different from road /path running ...
If you have a local park, you could try just running on grass to start with or even a running track both of which are more forgiving surfaces ..
Don't be too disheartened. Running outside is much different to the treadmill. You have all sorts of things to contend with outside that you don't in the gym. Road camber, inclines (& there are some sneaky ones), uneven surfaces, the weather, people, animals, cars. I could go on....
It might also just have been a bit of an off day for you.
As Rob said, give it a go again when you're ready & until then keep enjoying the running. ☺
First well done for starting again ! Running outdoors is harder - but much more rewarding.
If you're used to the treadmill, with its regular speed, (and no potholes, no dogs, no cars) you may have started too fast. Don't get discouraged, try again, maybe in a couple of weeks, it is so much better!
. I run on roads most of the time, and the rare lucky runs I have managed on trails (I'd love to do more bu they are all quite a distance from home) were slower than the ones on road. Every now and then - usually not planned - I end up on a treadmill - I do get bored after 10 minutes but I can go much faster!
Running outside is very different. It is much harder (at first!) to pace yourself (just as it can be hard for someone used to running outside to maintain the steady pace of a treadmill when they first try). Don't get disheartened, just try again, but make an effort to run slower than you would normally inside. Alternatively, try running with a partner who can set the pace for you.
Sorry to hear about ur struggles. I used a treadmill for one week, then went outside on grass. It does feel harder due to the uneven ground but I stuck at it. Haven't been back on the treadmill because I have found it more interesting going out in the fresh air. Would suggest perhaps trying again, maybe one run in three but understand finishing c25K is a strong goal that might mean just going on the treadmill.
running outside is different, but you very quickly get used to it. I found it difficult ot get my pace right, so keep it slow at first. But it's much less boring. Treadmills are great for intervals, and inclines, but not for longer runs.
I think you 'll running outside much more rewarding, if you can maybe ditch the treadmill and try it on the roads to see how you go. Its the opposite for me id last about ten minutes on a tread mill before have to stop i can deal with going no where i suppose and find it very boring. But each to their own. At least your moving! oh and i seem to say this a lot...The roads are always open
