Hi does anyone on here know of an app or podcast I could listen to that will help me pace myself as I want to do the park run again next week and not go too fast and wear myself out too soon.

Good question that I don't have the answer to except to know your speed at home and maybe count to keep that going instead of getting swep along with the crowd?

I'm using an app called PaceDJ. It looks at the BPM of your music and adjusts to the pace you are at, or you can choose a BPM to stay constant. It does a lot more, but I'm finding it really helpful.

You can set up a pace run on Runkeeper.

Does your parkrun have markers at every K? If not, Walk the route beforehand and pick out landmarks at every K or 1/2K. Then work out when you should be passing each landmark for the pace you want to run at. Check your progress on the day and adjust your pace accordingly.

Don't start to near the front unless you intend to put in a sub 20 min time. That easy you won't be surrounded by people running a much faster pace than you from the off. You also won't be a trip hazard for those runners who are fast but are starting behind you (this can be a real issue at some runs).

Good tip for me too. Thanks. I intend to do a parkrun this Saturday if the weather is ok.

some great tips from Adam about starting to near the front at parkrun . it is easy to get caught up in the excitement of it and set off to quick ... Some parkruns also have pacer runners you can follow if they are running at a pace you can do or would like to do ...

I would say run your own pace whatever that is based on what your times are now for 5k , the main thing is to go there and enjoy it it is a great event to do you may surprise yourself with a PB you never know :D

Thanks for the tips, I did start at the front lol as I thought that way at least I wouldn't be last the whole way lol. But yes I did get caught up with it all which was why I went so fast to begin with! Lesson learned there I think 😀
