Out with the old, in with the new.

So, the Wiggle fairy has been...

Decided it was finally time to replaced my old faithful Asics GT2000 v2 road shoes. They have gone way over their suggested mileage - I estimate they have done about 1700km, in fact, but still have been the most comfy and dependable road shoes I have. However I wasn't sure they hav a marathon and 11 weeks of high mielage training left in them so thought I would start breaking a new pair in now.

Enter the Asics GT2000 v3...

Am hoping there are not too many differences between the old and the new. I was originally intending to replace the v2s with another identical pair but found the v3 on such a good offer it would have been churlish not to. Half what I paid for the v2 in fact.

have gone up a half size to allow for footswell on longer distances, and accomodate my amazing injinji socks. All that remains is to take them out for an inaugural shoggle.

Somewhere or other I remember reading that you should always train for a marathon using two pairs of shoes and select the final ones only on the day. That way your feet will be accustomed to both, should one pair fail on you........It might have been a shoe manufacturer's ploy to sell more shoes, but does make some sense. I always overlap new shoes with old ones.

I must confess these are not my only pairs of running shoes. Although if these new ones work out well I may invest in a second pair. They were at such an advantageous price and also multiple pairs of the same shoe are a lot easier to get away with unnoticed by the Shoe Police.

I noticed the tag as I was typing it and thought it an unusual one.

Ha ha not a typical word you associate with running!

Ooooh they look nice. I was in my local running shop (just window shopping of course... ;-) ) on Wednesday and I was admiring all these lovely brightly coloured shoes. Sure mine are great etc etc, but alas, they are white...

Just back from breaking their... um, breaking them in. My now default slow and easy 5k followed by interval pusshing 7k. So far so good. Noticed the extra roominess.
