It seems so strange to think that I have completed this program... I was thinking I was going to lose weight but I haven't, probably gained muscle . What about you?

Been running for two years, haven't lost an ounce. It's not uncommon to remain the same, apparently regular long runs are more likely to help weight loss as well as eating less!

Yes -- running 3 times per week for 30 minutes is wonderful!! But - really - it may be a huge amount for couch potatoes :) - but in reality it isn't really very much. On average , we can probably say that an hours easy running will burn around 500 cals ?? -- about the same in a bottle of wine :) I used to drink much more than a bottle and a half of wine per WEEK!!! :(

trying to lose weight since july 2014 - down 5st. I've lost about 2st since starting running. Unfortunately running doesn't help weight loss as much as people think. It makes you much fitter though and is good all round for health.

ok, well its time for myfitnesspal now then to deal with the weight

I am on thyroid meds and the weight loss part of running has been very difficult, just recently got a new set of mathematics that is specifically designed for people on replacement meds and 30 min exercising 5x a week and it's perfect for me to lose 1lb a week. I'm on week 4 with 4lb lost. One of the reasons it didn't work for me before was I was eating too little and then just enough. We all have a special equation that works just for ourselves. always worth jiggling the amount a bit to see how you go, if that's what you want. Ive lost my running muscles on the IC, can't wait to get them back. Happy running.

Ive not lost any weight really, the scales always hover around the same number despite doing c25k and trying to eat healthier, but people have commented 'have you lost weight?' and my clothes are looser and i feel like i've lost a bit of weight. 'Im not disappointed that the scales haven't moved much though, as generally i feel so much better and fitter and healthier..

The time will come when people start saying to you things like -- "You have lost too much weight!! Now don't go being too silly about this -- you shouldn't lose too much weight!!"

Well done you! I'll be shaking my pompoms for you tomorrow :) What next?

I think the weightloss thing depends on a lot of other stuff too. I've lost nearly 2 stone over the last seven months (I've been running for six of those). I did no sport at all before. It may also be linked to the fact that I stopped alcohol (full of empty calories) and the associated nibbles (more junk calories) in January, and that, combined with running, has had an unexpected result on the scales.

Thank you all. It is true that exercising changes the shape of your body so let's go for it. Happy running to you all !

I only lost weight through slimming world, but running keeps me slim now and 5k 3 times a week speeds up my digestion massively so that probably has as much benefit as the actual exercise. I have definitely firmed up too which is a big bonus. ! :)

Me too I love Slimming world and also do 5k 3 times a week . Feel great and just 6lbs away from my target weight. Howver getting to my target isnt my motivator. I just feel so much better when I run -the freedom and sheer enjoyment now I can run solid for 30 to 45 mins is amazing. Enjoy gour running and SW😄xx

Yes I am 5lb from target but I am having a month off SW as so much going on this month. I am still sticking to the plan 80% of time and have not put any weight on. The running actually slowed my weight loss down for a while early on and I didn't care I would rather run than lose weight !! Happy running ! :)

Another slimming world fan here! Find it really easy to stick to and definitely learnt to cut out the rubbish (most of the time... ;-) ) Combined with c25k seems to be doing the trick so far. Although I'm 14lbs from target yet.

I did in fact lose quite a bit when I first started running, about 8 KGs, but then my appetite kicked in! Here's the bad news though from my Garmin - during July I ran 12 times, clocked up about 65 KMs, but the total calories burned were about 4,400 - enough to lose about a LB and a half assuming I didn't make any other changes to my diet. It's all too easy to say "I ran today, I deserve a doughnut" If you want to lose weight, you need to keep an eye on what you eat...

I hope your final run goes well for you today, congratulations!

I haven't lost any weight myself but I can see a difference in my shape and I feel better so I would rather track my progress that way now.

I know a few people using my fitness pal and doing things like slimming world so maybe that's a good next step, you're already on a decent starting point with regular activity 😀
