Ohhh new gadget 😊

Hi all,

Iv had a fit bit flex for a few months now, and whist it's a great everyday analysis of your basic daily activities, I found it really limited when it came to actual excercise. For example, distance ran didnt seem very accurate despite having logged running gait and having no display screen on the wrist band itself got quite annoying. (I like a very regular countdown to how long iv got left.)

In light of this, iv bought a Garmin watch. A forerunner 10. Its basic but So far I love it.

Which gadgets do u guys like? What works for you?

I went for a Garmin this time last year, forerunner 10 too, decided it was best to try it out and then decide if I needed anything fancier......turns out I don't and my pink garmin does everything I need :) I also recently got a flex too, the lack of display can be annoying but I got it for Β£20 (second hand from someone that used it for 3 days and now I've had to upgrade my phone it now syncs) and like you have found that it's great for tracking overall activity levels. So far I'm enjoying them both even though they are entry models and I'm not sure I have the time for analysing more data (I also don't have anything else on my wish list, other than perhaps a pair of running capris that don't chaffed I only have 1 reliable pair at the moment!)

Β£20 is a total bargain for a fit bit...

Seems my forerunner 10 is a popular choice..and I can see why. 😊

As for running capris, sports direct are selling them pretty cheap at the moment. They are karrimor but despite the poor reviews, i find mine are comfortable and seem to be staying up when I run which is a huge bonus...hate yanking them up mid run...

I'm in the same boat with the Karrimor running capris, most comfortable pair I have, in fact they've done a HM and all the training and I still love them, the only time they've tried to head south was when I over, order the back pocket with change, keys and a plethora of other stuff to do a 10k, then I had to keep hitching. I have other pairs but I find they just don't fit as nice or chaffe in the crotch area (and yes I wear underwear!) :)

I bought some Karrimor stuff before I started C25K and it's fantastic quality and gorgeous colours. I was very pleasantly surprised..It's mens gear though so maybe they make mens stuff better?

Forerunner 15 for me. I named him Gary. Gary Garmin. I also have a fitbit flex and think the two devices compliment each other really well.

I have a garmin 220 and a misfit shine. I love both of them. I have worn my misfit shine for 18 months non stop and I was so chuffed when I logged my biggest day when I did my HM. There. Aren't many days when I don't do my 10,000 steps.

I used Runkeeper for ages, it's very good WHEN it feels like it! Some days it lost the signal and I just got fed up with it - so I succumbed and got a Garmin 10, and I love it! She's called Minnie, wish I'd got her ages ago, she never lets me down.

I picked up a second-hand 410 with a HRM off e-bay about a year ago. I find the HRM very useful and bought a second strap for it so I don't have to put it on wet if I use it two days in a row. I quite often use it just in HRM mode in the gym as a way to monitor how hard I'm working on the equipment.

My only complaint with the 410 is that it's difficult to sync things like courses and training programs with it. In theory it can be programmed for C25K type runs where you, say, run for 5 mins then walk for 3, then run for 5 etc. It will also follow a course and tell you which way to go. However I can't get it to load those things at the moment. I don't know whether it's just mine or a general issue.

I use Runkeeper through my Apple watch and I find this works really well (I liked the in-built exercise app whilst out running for the apple watch but it was rubbish for comparing runs and I could only get miles on the actual phone app and not km which annoyed me a lot, so I switched to Runkeeper). I still have my phone strapped to my arm so that it uses GPS but this doesn't bother me at all.

Wow seems runners just lurrvvee their gadgets..lol

Iv named my garmin..iv named him Forest. As in Forest Gump because of this quote:

That day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run. So I ran to the end of the road. And when I got there, I thought maybe I'd run to the end of the town. And when I got there, I thought maybe I'd just run across Greenbow County. And I figured, since run this far, maybe I'd just run across the great state of Alabama. And that's what I did. I ran clear across Alabama. For no particular reason I just kept on goin'. I ran clear to the ocean. And when I got there, I figured, since I'd gone this far, I might as well turn around, just keep on goin'. When I got to another ocean, I figured, since I'd gone this far, I might as well just turn back, keep right on goin'.

Awesome quote!
