Graduated and then got complacent - weather too hot, weather too cold, too wet, too windy, too tired, too busy..... Now I'm trying to get back on track but finding the time and motivation are evading me. Struggling at the moment
Fallen off the wagon: Graduated and then got... - Couch to 5K
Fallen off the wagon
don't worry, it happens to us all! your motivation will inevitably go through peaks and troughs, maybe plan a race or something in the near future to get you motivated?
Fully agree - enter a race so you have something to aim for and then get along to a parkrun! The energy and welcome you will get from it will pull you back on track.
It is a hard time to get started with all the heat, but it feels so good to get out there, even for a few minutes.
I peeked at some of your old posts and it looks like you had a great time when you were on your way to graduation - maybe have a peek yourself, your own words might inspire you!
Good luck!!
Sorry you have to go through this, if it's of any reassurance, we have all known that feeling at some point in our journeys.
My advice is similar to agedsnailpace: you could start C25K again to get started slowly, then go regulalry to your local Parkrun. The atmosphere is great, and it's the best way to make you want to sign up for a race
There are a lot of Race For Life races happening this Summer! And why not have a 10km goal for Autumn? (Bluefin has free podcasts to get you there in 6 weeks after C25K, it's called Bridge to 10K).
Let us know how it goes this Summer!
I did exactly the same... Started January, trained for a 10k in May then promptly fell off the wagon afterwards
Booked up another 10k for Sept so back out with a goal now - helped me a lot
I know how you feel. My motivation has really been my issue in the past few weeks. Took some time out for knee injury and now struggling to get back on track. We can do this. So let's get back on track
If you miss Laura's coaching you might also find the Stepping Stone/ Stamina and Speed podcasts help keep you focused and challenged.
If you want to do it then you'll find time. If not, you won't. Pity as C25k is an open door to a healthier way of life. I'd find time if I was you. It's not as if it's a waste of time is it. Far from it!
I get it. I restarted a month ago and I'm motivated by how good I felt went I was running regularly a year ago! Remember that? There's good days and bad but there is always tomorrow! (Too trite, but I couldn't resist!)
