first it was the day *before* my birthday, then it was my birthday, today it's the day *after* my birthday (& anyhow, I've had a sore throat & s'been a heavy week at work). I've lapsed & wallowed in cake, chocolate & excuses these past few days.

I want to get up tomorrow and get it together..W6R1 it should be. Pls wish me luck!

HappyRunning this wkend everyone :)

No luck needed. You seem to have a target and know what you want to achieve. It might be are, it might hurt but you can and will do it!

Happy Birthday! Sounds like the perfect excuse to wallow in cake to me. Hope you enjoy your run tomorrow.

Now is the time to can the excuses and crack on. Once you get up and at it tomorrow the quicker it'll be wrapped up, ticked off and you can get on with your day.

Good luck with it. Go steadily as it's quite a tricky one.

Have a good time!

Good luck! Hope you had a great birthday - you're entitled to wallow in cake at least once a year! Just get up and get out tomorrow and you'll feel so much better for it. See it as a belated present to yourself to get that little bit fitter! Have a great run!

??? Surely a Birthday is an excuse to indulge in an extra long birthday run?

Sounds like a good way to celebrate your birthday. Sometimes a slightly extended break will do you good...now enjoy your run xxx

Happy Birthday! Perfect excuse for wallowing in cake and chocolate :D

Running tomorrow? You've said it now so you'll do it. I'll wish you luck but I'm sure you don't need it ;)

Happy running!

aww, you're all lovely & thank you! went on to develop proper tonsillitis ..or some viral version; grim :( I took solace in 'treats' (eating!), to a shameful degree! however - today I returned to the gym for the first time & managed a twenty minute 'run'. I write 'run' as in reality I was spectacularly, unbelievably slow - managed a paltry 1.6km - but I did keep pace, stay steady & did go twenty mins plus warm-down without stopping (or struggling). Thanks everyone for support, helps more than you'll know!

At this rate I'll be a decade til I hit 5k, but I am keeping going - no giving up! My message is for those for whom 5k feels like a hundred miles.../ twenty minutes feels like forever; I'll get there eventually, you can too!

'such a positive, respectful & supportive forum - thank you :))
