A run for RFC!

As promised, I mentally took RFC out on my run with me this morning as she is laid up on the IC and feeling low.

It was very overcast but no rain about.

As we did our warm up walk through to the edge of the village I did not see a single soul - there are often dog walkers about but no one about today. I decided we would follow my favourite 5k circuit and set off along the road for a short distance before peeling off down the farm track that goes past the edge of the airfield. As soon as we got into the open fields it was quite blustery but we were lucky enough to be accompanied by the red kite hanging effortless in the wind over the field. We came to the stretch alongside the woodland and as soon as we were in shelter the temperature shot up and it was very close - getting a bit hot and sweaty now! I wanted to show RFC the family of deer I saw during the week, but they too were AWOL today.

Heading back towards the village now. The grass on this path between the field of broad beans on the left and wheat on the right is getting a bit long now so had to adopt a slightly strange high stepping pony gait for a bit to avoid taking a tumble! I hope the farmer gets his mower out soon or I won't be able to come this way for a bit.

Past the greenhouses and back along the river bank into the village. Finally meet some dogs being walked - fortunately well behaved and on the lead. And so, back home.

Really enjoyed your virtual company today RFC as it made me more aware of the things around me so I could relay them to you now.

Hope you are feeling a bit better today!

I often think about you other 5kers when I'm out running. I always run alone but in excellent virtual company!

And how are you doing with that ankle sweetie? Managing to get out a bit now?

I haven't repeated my slightly inebriated run from the other week yet, lol but I'm walking better and further now, thanks for asking. Trouble is, I land with a heel strike when I try to run because my foot has lost its 'spring' due to the tendon damage, so running jars my hip and knee. I'm doing my exercises though and intend to have another go later on this week. Keep your fingers crossed for me xx
