Don't sweat the detail

W7R1 was fun. Asthma kicked in and the Lane of Pain did the calves.

And then there was today.....W7R2.

Just got up and did it. Ignored the Hill of Hell, kept plodding, foot hitting the floor to the beat.

A movement to the side and there were a load of deer in the field watching the Minion Locomotive go puffing past.

Steam belching from the nostrils. Arms methodically turning and moving. (Me....not them)

Carried on going. Along the walnut trees and the MJ Bobbing Gap

(MJ always used to tell me to look as if a person the other side of the hedge was seeing me walking because my head was not bobbing and I always seemed to pass the same spot as he said it and therefore it is the MJ Bobbing Gap)

But it was weird. I wasn't out of breath and my legs were fine.

Around the corner to the village sign and the half way bell hadn't even sounded!

I realised today that the street village sign I always touch and turn around says '30'.

That's the plan....30 minutes as we all know.

(I really hope I never see a sign that says 120!)

On the final stretch MJ told me to open up on the last minute so I did.

Oh I did.

I just SO did.

I was there with a car chasing me throwing stones and Jenny telling me to run and I ran. The braces went and I was flying.

Loved it.

In all fairness I was ****ed when I got to the car but it was a lot shorter distance to where I normally am when it's the start of the cool down.

Great day today. Loved it.

Got home. Shoes off. Socks on wrong feet.

Who cares. Enjoy the run. Don't sweat the small details.

None of us will be Olympians so just enjoy it.

Well done you, I have socks with L and R on them and had two L's on yesterday, as you say who cares? Keep enjoying it, that's the most important part :0)

Don't sweat the small stuff you're quite right, my first pair of serious running socks were bought in Italy and I just picked them off the shelf, so by rights it should be S for left and D for right.

They were in English, I had no idea until one day was peering at the laundry and saw the R&L.

Doh....

p.s. am loving Hill of Hell and Lane of Pain

Sounds wonderful (and a lot better than last time, am I right?). I find L and R socks comical. I got a pair recently and they made me nostalgic for knickers with the days of the week on them.

BTW, I'm going to add to the Runners' Topography with Square of Despair.

And of course, after interrupting persons engaged in a lewd act during That Run in the Circus Maximus, it will be hereafter known as, of course, the Circus Naughtius Maximus (with affectionate homage to The Life of Brian).

I think there is a point in this programme when you really do start hitting a high note during the runs (for me it starts between about 15 and 20 minutes in) when you feel like you could take off, and it is so exhilarating.

Well I put the L sock on my left foot and the R sock on my right foot, and that's the only reason the Earth continues in its harmonious rounds.

Be mischievious...try the unharmonious now and then :D

Or the 'old age socks on wrong feet' thing more like

Love a good running story! I wasn't aware that socks could go on the wrong feet?! But then I never even ware a matching pair (much to the annoyance of both my mum and mum in law 😝).

Hope you said hello to the deer! I allways say 'hey cows' to the field of cows I go past, they were my first cheerleaders after all! (Sure some of the dog walkers think I'm nuts!)
