Up til now I've never cross trained but yesterday I bought myself a nice second hand hybrid bike. Just looking for any advice with reccomended distance etc or any advice really and some encouragement that this will indeed improve my running stamina lol!

Yes it will!! I find cycling, swimming and using the cross trainer has all helped me. Especially if you want to run longer. The good thing about a bike is you can cover lots more ground and find new running routes 😀

Ha ha congratulations, me too! SEcond hand bike for me too and not ridden a ruddy bike for aeons. I was always rubbish at it but looking forward to getting back in the saddle as it were

Had your first run out yet? I've not as I'm waiting in for parcels but eager to get out onto the trail on it. Exciting times!

Thanks for the encouragement , I definitely think it's going to help strengthen me up! I also found a good video on running bug to help with my core etc as that's what really needs doing! Yes mw I got it as soon as I could yesterday lol. I went 6k round a park path to get used to it and try the gears and then 2k on a road to get a little confidence with the traffic ect as I intend to use it to get part of the ten miles to work eventually! It's brilliant, obv different to running but leaves time to really enjoy the scenery xx

You will soon work out the gears, especially on a hills!!! Just make sure you saddle is the right height and the tyres are to the correct pressure. My partner pumped mine up far too much as made my ride uncomfortable. So you will be whizzing around in no time.
