16 minutes!!

Today I started week 4. As week 3 was quite hard, I thought that week 4 would be impossible, but I did it. I cannot believe that I managed to do both of the 3 minute and both of the 5 minute runs. Whilst my legs did ache, I didn't get out of breath. When I started this, I found it so difficult that I repeated week 1 twice, but by following the programme I really feel like I am making progress, and ran for a total of 16 minutes!

Well done! Remember this feeling when you get to other runs that you don't feel confident about. You really will surprise yourself. I never thought I'd do wk5r3 but I did, like you I had tired legs but was not out of breath. Keep going!

Oh that's given me lots of hope. I start week 3 tonight. I also repeated week 1 as I really struggled first time around!

Go for it, it's not as hard as you think! X

That really is progress, it creeps up on you this getting fitter and being able to run. Well done !

Starting w4 on Saturday after finishing w3 tonight. Was looking at it and I don't fancy those 5 minute runs as I found the 3 minute ones a struggle. I was thinking maybe I'm going too fast. I run 12km/ph and walk 6.5. Should I slow down a bit. I'm 52.

Hi, did w4r2 yesterday, and like you was a bit worried about the jump to 5 minute runs. It wasn't easy but it was a great sense of achievement. I am running in the park so don't know how fast I am running but cover 2.5 miles (i wear a fit band). My jogging is a steady pace and definitely not a sprint! I am 53 - in the gym, I think I walked 6km and jogged up to 10km, perhaps you are a bit too fast.

Yeah, think I'll drop down to 10km for w4r1 on Saturday. I can work on speed later if I feel it's too slow.

I realised on the treadmill that I was running too fast and struggling to breath - slowed it down but varied the gradient and now feel much more comfortable - I'll aim to build up the speed in the coming weeks. priority is to keeping going without doing any damage to my knee joints. I run indoors once a week and the rest of the time outside.

That is brilliant and so encouraging. I did W3R1 yesterday and found it hard. knowing I'm not the only one finding this hard keeps me at it. Good luck with the rest of the program, I hope I feel the same as you next week.
