Dear Toonfan- it can be really hard to muster the "get up and go" for anything. First you have to ask yourself if getting back on the (wonderful) C25K programme is something you are serious about. It sounds like it might be so then you need to approach each session like any other really important thing you do in your life. Make time to plan for it. Schedule your runs in your diary and think about the routes. Decide when you are going to do your first run and just get out there. Good luck.
When I'm having an "excuses not to run" day I put my running gear on, somehow, it makes me just GO. Sometimes my body doesn't want to go to the point that it feels like the running shoes are literally dragging the rest of my body out the door, but once you're out the door it just happens! Good luck, I hope you find your motivation!
Howay kiddah, you can do it!!! I've just had a quick look at your posts and see that it is a long time since you first came on here, but something has drawn you back, so there has to be some part of you that wants to do this. I started C25k nearly two years ago at the age of 57.......you look as if you are much younger than that. If you want to start running there really is not a better route than C25k. Two years ago I could only run a couple of hundred yards, now I can run ten miles if I want to. I am not only fitter, but also less stressed and generally happier and I put it all down to this amazing programme. When I hit sixty, at the end of this year, I won't be staring at a slow decline into old age, but looking forward to being physically active and a damn sight fitter than most of my overweight, inactive and fatalistic contemporaries who seem to accept that there is something inevitable about not being able to do as much as they used to.
C25k is the best thing that I have done in years and I wish I had discovered something like it decades ago. You have that chance now. Besides, with only one match to go to decide the fate of The Toon, if you can develop some running ability, you might get in the squad next year..........you never know.
The training plan guides you, we can support you but motivation has to come from you. So if you don't want to be outrun by some old git, then put your trainers on and hit the road. Good luck.
You can do it! You want to because you've posted this. Promise yourself you will do one run and stick to it. I promise you you'll be glad you did and will then be looking forward to the next. I posted a very similar message on Saturday and after some lovely responses and great advice, I ran on Sunday and loved it! Am off out tomorrow morning and can't wait. Good luck!
