Ok, some one mentioned either NB shoe's or NB shop! Not sure which.
However fir those living in/ around North UK (Sunderland area- travelling area). I was saying to a friend about wanting to get running shoes but will need to go to get my 'gait' tested to get correct shoe for my running style.
He suggested it also, but then said, "get the name/type of shoe, but buy from Dalton Park as they have massive discounts all the time".
So I just thought I would share this information. 
I don't know Dalton Park, but from your post I presume they're a discount outfit that undercuts "real" running shops by not offering gait analysis. If that's correct, then I would respectfully suggest that you buy your shoes at the same shop where they spend their time and knowledge on analysing and giving personalised recommendations. It's only by supporting the "real" sports shops that we can expect to have them around tomorrow and next year.

Dalton Park is an outlet centre, however, it is full of "proper" brand shops. So there is actually a New Balance store there, which whilst likely to be selling items cheaper than elsewhere on the High Street, is a real running shop. You also find adidas, Trespass shops there etc...
Addidas I know only to well, via 14 year old daughter who loves it there.

I have only been there once about a year ago and my highlight was a visit to the Radley bag shop. Hoping to go again in a couple of weeks (we have family up there), but I think this time New Balance, Adidas and Sports Direct will be of more interest.
It's ok. I was unsure of the 'term' NB. But was told there was one at that Outlet.
Can I second what Tomas has said. If you want the service it's got to be paid for somehow...
On another point: are you sure that they are actually cheaper at Dalton Park? I don't know about the New Balance shop, but, apart from a very few the loss leaders, the Adidas shop isn't necessarily cheaper than a running shop. Last time I was in there I noted that the Adidas "discount" shop was selling the same shoes I bought after I had my gait analysed at a "proper" running shop. The "discount" price at Dalton Park was about £3 more expensive...
I have no idea if cheaper Adam. Only going off what I have been told. As for Adidas, only a rare treat. 
Start fitness on grainger street Newcastle is meant to be really good and reasonable priced. There is one in Durham but it's quite small
