Has anyone got experience of running and taking beta blockers? A assuming that only those aiming to get into serious speed / endurance would be affected? Any ideas welcomed :)

We always say here if in any doubt check it out. I know I was talking to our local heart nurse at the doctors and she was very interested in the program to recommend to her patients. I am sure some of them are on beta blockers. We also have a few members here who started on bp meds and have now come off them with running. I would say get advice, take it slow and steady and good luck.

Thanks ! I'm finding its great but I am slow and steady....which could be me being unfit and never running before, but could be beta blockers too. I've just done penultimate run....graduation here I come....haven't felt as well for ages :) I may never race but I never set out to either :/ next time at docs I will ask more. Thanks again.

If your near the end I would definetly get it checked out. It could just be you are over medicated. Good luck with your graduation run.

I take beta blockers (low dose) and have often wondered whether they prohibit me from running as well as I should. I now don't take the beta blocker till after I have my run - but it does not seem to make any difference. ;-)

Opinion seems to be mixed. You might find this an interesting read.

Many thanks! Interesting but inconclusive read :) which seems to suggest, run how works best for me and I'll never be a sprinter....which is no great surprise, or loss! It only occurred to me in the last week so early days thinking it over. I have better runs in an afternoon than a morning speed wise which may be linked to BBs, or maybe not! Thanks :)
