Hi

Just completed Week 1 of Couch to 5K! Whoop!

Just a quick question, is it normal to get a headache a couple of hours after running? Anyone else get them?

Thanks

Very well done! You are well on the way!

It can happen, and there have been posts about it... it may be that you are holding yourself a little tightly.

Try and make sure that your shoulders are relaxed, shake out your arms and hands... there is so much to think of when we start and I think we do get tense:) Hold you head up, drop those shoulders and look ahead, but in a relaxed way, I smile when I run.. that helps :)

A hot shower when you are back and some simple neck exercises could help too.

I am just off for my run now.. bit late for me... I shall make sure I relax into it :)

Hope it sorts for you ...onward and upward!

Are you drinking enough water? Could be a little dehydration too.

I sometimes get a headache and like the other posters eluded too its usually either post run dehydration and / or muscle tension in the neck and shoulders.

Me too - and same reasons as above I think. Make a real effort to shake my arms about every so often - pretending to be an aeroplane is quite good.

Thanks very much for the advice - today I waggled my arms around a bit and tried to relax my shoulders on the run - no headache! So have now completed w2d1 whoop!

I gave up running a few years ago due to terrible headaches after running . Now started again but only on week 1 and so far no headaches . I do yoga which I think has helped . Make sure you are breathing properly and relaxing your shoulders away from your ears . Have a drink before and after running , stay hydrated . Good luck
