A bad run

Well set off at my usual speed for run 2 of week 5. After 17 minutes had to grad a 1 minute rest. On stopping my running watch I had done 5k in 26:02mins, but will have to attempt this run again as I don't think it counts, unless of course I am told otherwise?

SLOW DOWN, I KNOW IT'S HARD FOR YOU BUT, REALLY, SLOW DOWN! There now, you've made me shout again :)

I'm trying. I'm trying, I just can't stop it. Every time I set off I think I'm doing the 100 meters. Anyway, not I'm getting a rocket, does it count can I move onto run 3 or are you all going to make do run 2 again?

W5R2 is supposed to be Run 8 minutes, walk 5 minutes, Run 8 minutes.

Unless I am missing something, you more than achieved that.

oops senior moment sorry. I meant to say week 7 run 2 I've just attempted or have I done it?

Ahh I see!

At the end of the day, you are the only one who can decide whether to move on or repeat but when all is said and done, you felt the need to take a break when the plan calls for 25 minutes solid running so...................

As AncientMum exclaimed (along with everyone who advised in your previous thread) you do need to find a way to slow it down a bit.

It wasn't actually a break it was a fast walk.

That was a bad run? You are going too fast if you had to stop, and if you don't slow dow you risk getting a nasty injury. But 5K in 26 minutes is not a bad run in my books

Thanks for that Judd, I compared the graph from this run to the last run, I was going quicker I can see that now. Trouble is, when I set off I don't feel like I'm going faster than the last time. I dropped to a walk for 1min and a few seconds then set off a again, it seems at the same pace looking at the graph. Think I should run this run again, but that's is why I had to drop to a walk for a spell. I'm going to try the pace feature on my tomtom.

I was going to say, perhaps u should try a gadget that monitors your pace and refer to it frequently throughout your run and adjust accordingly? I have a garmin and my big problem throughout the programme was going too fast without meaning to, so now i wear my garmin and dont let myself go any faster than 9:30min/mile (and ideally i try to stay slower than that). I think at the moment it is better to be able to run further, than run faster if that makes sense?

Yeh, thanks for that. I will my tomtom to around that. I know that's why I had a problem last time out, I simply set off to fast. In reality I don't think it was a bad run, just to fast for the level I am at.

Not what you're looking for?
