Not allowed to run, shinsplints still keeping me on the couch. They feel so-o-o much better; today is the first day for a month when they haven't hurt when I'm walking.
I've bitten the bullet and been to a physio. I've exercises, foam rolling skills and a whole load of new enthusiasm to get out there. I'm going again on Tuesday for a gait analysis (a clinical one not a sales pitch one!) and more advice on posture, technique and general pummelling. I'm under STRICT instructions not to pound the pavements until then. They were fantastic. I'd held off, because I thought it would be a bit of a waste of money, as I'd found out all I needed to know by talking to people and researching on-line, but a bit of professional one-to-one advice has been... Well, inspirational, really. And if I get the green light, I shall run home from my appointment on Tuesday (it's not far). Hurrah!

You sound like a person who is on the mend - and it will be brilliant to see you off the couch - which is so full at the moment that people are sitting on top of one another and the springs are about to go. Even so 'be patient and make sure you wait for that light to turn green'. Good luck on Tuesday
I had no idea that shin splints could be that bad. I had a mild case after W1R2 (on Tuesday) and went out for W1R3 with a fair amount of trepidation but, so far at least, things are OK.
Ooh just be careful. Mine started with cramping calf muscles when the longer runs started and I thought I could run through it. I pushed and pushed a bit too hard, ignored the twinges until they turned into full on pain. Learnt my lesson good and proper!
Well done Allie, I missed my Physio yesterday and because it felt so good I went for a run. It feels fine but I should have waited. Do not run yet it won't be long.
Good luck, Allie. Sounds like you'll be back to it in no time
Take it slowly, build it up again as frustrating as it is when you feel you've more in you! Not worth another month on the couch! But all sounds good and very promising
