Tried a new (very flat) route and nearly made the magic 5 k in 30 minutes target I have set myself. Must admit a very fit young lady sprinted past me on 1 Km before the end and that geed me up considerably.
So I have found the answers, I need to go round the route beforehand with a JCB to flatten it completely and persuade a team of pace setters to keep me on track.

Blimey!! That's a smashing pace you managed there. Very well done. Definitely get that JCB out and the lovely pacer too, and you'll be on for the holy grail of a 30min 5k for your graduation run. Fab stuff
Thanks AM, I'm under no illusions for the graduation parkrun, it's VERY hilly compared to my normal routes. Just want to enjoy it, so will be plodding round, soaking it all up and taking in the scenery. (However, might push myself a little bit harder on Run 2!)
Keep that foot raised and let everyone run around after you!
Thanks Millwalki8, I have a Garmin 310 that uploads to Garmin Connect (and Strava). I like it 'cos i can see the numbers without glasses and it's easy to stop and start.
Many congratulations that is fab and a real achievement which you sing from the roof tops. I still can't do 5km on a regular basis I really have to push for it so I like your idea of pacers. Nothing wrong with a flat route either!! Only two more runs to go!!
