Week 9 run 1

Week 9 run 1

Nearly there!

Tried a new (very flat) route and nearly made the magic 5 k in 30 minutes target I have set myself. Must admit a very fit young lady sprinted past me on 1 Km before the end and that geed me up considerably.

So I have found the answers, I need to go round the route beforehand with a JCB to flatten it completely and persuade a team of pace setters to keep me on track.

  • Holy Moly O_G, that's v. impressive! Lend us your JCB when you've finished with it please? ;)

  • Will do, but may have a problem persuading them to let me flatten the Parkrun course.

  • Yeah that's a plan!

    Great pace there! Well done

  • Thanks MW, surprised myself!

  • Wow, that's brilliant!

  • Thanks GLudwig, I'm still smiling!

  • So you should be!

  • Whoa OG ! That's a very good time and pace , Youre on fire, Blimey, well done !

We wont say a word to Mrs OG about the fit young lady, honest Guv :-D xxx

  • Thanks PP, its OK, I couldn't catch her.

Seeing an OG waddling down the road maybe why she passed me so quickly.

  • She must have been super speedy , you weren't exactly slacking at that pace ! :-) xxx

  • Blimey!! That's a smashing pace you managed there. Very well done. Definitely get that JCB out and the lovely pacer too, and you'll be on for the holy grail of a 30min 5k for your graduation run. Fab stuff :)

  • Thanks AM, I'm under no illusions for the graduation parkrun, it's VERY hilly compared to my normal routes. Just want to enjoy it, so will be plodding round, soaking it all up and taking in the scenery. (However, might push myself a little bit harder on Run 2!)

Keep that foot raised and let everyone run around after you!

  • Well done OG, very nice pace that :)

Love the avatar by the way :)

  • Thanks Zev, (the avatar is flattering ;-) )

  • Wow, that's fantastic and you're so close to graduation now. Good luck with run 2 and then on to Park Run! You'll smash it!

  • Thanks Parky-Park, can't believe how quick the programme has flown by, how much i have enjoyed it and how much better i feel.

  • Brilliant :)

    What app are you using?

  • Thanks Millwalki8, I have a Garmin 310 that uploads to Garmin Connect (and Strava). I like it 'cos i can see the numbers without glasses :-) and it's easy to stop and start.

  • Many congratulations that is fab and a real achievement which you sing from the roof tops. I still can't do 5km on a regular basis I really have to push for it so I like your idea of pacers. Nothing wrong with a flat route either!! Only two more runs to go!!

  • Thanks Vixchile, can't wait.

  • haha old_git great running there :D any incentive is a good incentive :D believe it or not Hills are good for us :D

  • Thanks Rob, still to be convinced about hills!

  • Wow, that's some blistering speed! And I note not entirely flat anyway, 13M elevation is not bad at all! WEll done OG!

  • Thanks CurlyGurly, thats why I need the JCB, If I can just get rid of those pesky 13m......

  • Woop Woop, you is cooking on gas!!! Go go go.... Only two more runs, we'll save you a seat and a glass of fizz in the swanky graduation lounge!! ;-)

  • Thanks Caroline, really looking forward to that!

  • Well done, maybe not such an old git after all! Good luck with the rest of the programme and mind the JCB doesn't run over you.

  • Thanks Coddfish, I'll be careful.

  • Great stuff there... dont worry about the JCB, already pretty flat down here in Somerset.. just send the fit young lady down :-)

  • She's mine if I can get down to 4 min Km's. (just don't tell Mrs OG!)
