Decided to try a run without Laura today. Not because she isn't fantastic - I'm just fed up with the music that comes with podcasts (can't use the app as reception is almost non existent on my run). Made my own podcast with Man-Machine, The Model, Autobahn and The Robots by Kraftwerk. Surprisingly, the Autobahn track was exactly the right rhythm for my run and I went technoing around my run without a pause - great. But I missed Laura's encouragement, so I may relent.
Those of you too young to understand what I'm on about, see:
I know what you mean about missing Laura. I am so attached to her that I thought I might have to register her as a runner in the Great Midlands Fun Run!
Thanks for the education on Autobahn. I know what you mean about the music. I did the same for last run of wk6 and wk 7. I just wanted to see what it would be like with my own music. I did listen to the podcast first at home to see if I was going to miss anything major from Laura (luckily not) - and, you're not going to believe this but after the 5 min warm up I nearly didn't go with my own music as I suddenly panic-ed and thought 'Noooo, I can't do this without Laura, I'm going to fail'. Anyway, I did have my own music and I did manage it. I've already done playlists for 28 mins and 30 mins! (hope I'm not tempting fate). It adds an extra level of interest to have your own stimulating music - and ofcourse you can gauge your progress by how many songs have been played. But I just can't convey how scary it was going solo!
I think Numbers would be good to run to, oh some Jean Michelle Jarre, oxygene or equinox. Had every Kraftwerk cassette (yes Im that old ) in the 80s. Tonight I was listening to Royal Blood and RHCP
