The Plan

My last post was about a rash decision to sign up for the Great Midlands Fun Run - having only ever done a 5k previously.

An experienced runner suggested I increase my distance by 7% each week so I prepared this to help me keep on the ball.

Thought I would share it in case anyone else is in the same boat.

Wow, that's remarkably organised. I do love a good plan and that looks like a good plan. What will you do for your other 2run each week? A 30minute and a speed/intervals? Very best of luck :)

During the course of 4 months you're going to need an easy week every 6 to 8 weeks, so if I was you, I'd plan an a slight decrease in the mileage for one week at the end of March and one week early May.

7% is a little conservative, so if you need to up it to 9 or 10% in order to squeeze in two easy weeks, then I'd do that.

Apart from that... looks very organised. Let us know how you're getting on with it :)

way to organised :D good luck with training and the run :) should be a great experience

That was a very brave decision :D I'm doing a 10% increase per week but was interested to see Tomas' advice on an easy week every 6-8 weeks. Love the way you've set it all out :)

Very clever, that looks do-able. Love your tags..

Looks good to me. How exciting! The thrill of the race could probably carry you an extra km or two as well.
