Slow jog today

Still following my plan. Called for a 7mins 40 secs per km for 5k. I found it hard to go slow and managed 7:10 per KM so 36 mins running for 5K. Felt very odd trying to run slowly and gave me lots of time to think about other things ;-) Still when I started I had trouble trying to run that fast. Very chilly out there today. Happy running all

Slow is for leg building. The slow bits are few so make the most of them

We had snow overnight and it's well icy. Glad i ran yesterday

Well done MW. I enjoyed it, a bit odd as it is a different type of competition how so slow can you go without stopping

It IS weird isn't it? My plan called for 9.45 - slower then my walking pace just about. I'm envious, wish I could say 7.10 was too slow...x

Quite agree Curly... i'm still struggling to get below 8min/k for a 5k run... one day... one day :-)

You know what I'd like? Just once to pass another runner. Even the ones I think, oh she's slow I can overtake her, still get away from me....

Yes... that would be great :-) Just been reading up a bit on maintaining pace and speeding up a bit.. appears one solution is to try and build up the long runs as this will increase stamina for the shorter ones....

in reply to AndyD

Yes, I've read that too, and short fast runs help with speed and staying power on longer ones. Guess we have to do a bit of everything and mix it all up a bit.

Try the speed and stamina podcasts in C25k+ I found they got me moving faster

If it feels hard work - which it does - then it shows that it's working those muscles. You feel the effort don't you! It's why slow running is in the plan. To build those legs for what's to come

Good work! Tick

I bet it's really hard to run very slowly! You'd have to think you're running in slow motion! Oh I hear the Chariots of Fire music in my head!
