2015 goals.....

I started C25K in May 2014 just a few days before my 57th birthday. I was shamed into leaving the couch by my two daughters. I was not overly happy at first with them but following the HU website and this forum I felt more encouraged. I decided that the plan was to get fitter, maybe lose weight, help cholesterol levels etc etc. I never thought I would complete the programme let alone get hooked. It has proved costly as I have shrunk and I have plenty of clothes to donate to charity. I have even bought two sets of running clothes and my latest purchases are wonderful.

I never reached 5km in 30 minutes but was able to run 5km. My first Parkrun outing was timed at 49 minutes. I then set a target of trying to reach 5km in 38 minutes which I achieved before the end of the programme. After that I thought I would aim always for sub 38 minutes and there I have stayed for a few months. I had a vague plan to run it sub 36' by the end of December and to reach 35' by my C25K birthday in May 2015.

Fast forward to daughter number 2 suggesting a flatter parkrun where I knocked nearly minute off my time. Duch a fantastic feeling. The following week she did my regular Parkrun route with me and I completed it in 34'31" under her watchful eye. The next few Parkruns were all at a touch over 35'. I knew I wanted to achieve a sub 35' under my own steam which I did on January 1st. 34'58". Roll on tomorrow.

This now brings me to my new goals -

1) to stay sub 35'.

2) to run 4/5 times per week.

3) to set a time to achieve for May 2015..... Do I try for sub 34 or sub 34'30"???

Fabulous progress jangly! You're going great guns. Give times a week is a lot. I am 57 and run 3 to 4 times s week. Don't overdo things

Sub 34!

I did my Parkrun today in 34'50". Pleased with that. Thinking that my goal should be 34'30" for May after seeing how long it has taken others to shave seconds off.

What a great achievement so far and you have set realistic goals which I think is a good thing in January as people get carried away. Well I think sub 34 parkruns is a fantastic goal and I bye you reach it quickly if you plan to do all that running every week. So lovely to have the support of your daughters.

Achieved 34'50" this morning in my Parkrun. So getting closer to 34'30". Hope to do 34' by May then. Seems doable but a friend this morning suggested I try for 33'33" by end of 2015.

My husband fears I may get too competitive and end up on the injury couch.
