...twas chilly, with a layer of frozen snow out there. My goal was 7.5k, but once I'd got to the road and saw how frozen it was, I thought I'd struggle to find a decent few k route (was boooing in my head).
I perfected the art of landing gingerly & picking out the crunch, rather than the glass, which probably helped my pace a bit...it was kind of economical running, forcing short strides and well placed feet. I like to think of it as glide not slide, but I'm not sure it looked like that anywhere other than in my crazy head! I repeated a good section several times to make up the distance, ran/walked at 60:30, with some 150:30 on the long steady downs.
So, the pb (if you can call a faster only 2nd ever 7k a best)...7.11k in 52:13...pace 7:20, no music for bpm (last week's was 54:32, so 2min's 19 sec faster). I am ecstatic!! I know it's not greatly fast, but it was a relatively comfortable run, except for the underfoot...I definitely feel like I am becoming fitter
I gave up a good few km from home (I knew I'd got a slippery section coming and didn't want to slip back through it), so was pleased I had a few layers to put back on for the long walk back, plus I had a strain in my right buttock (got that at around the 6k mark last week too) and didn't think my slip-avoiding technique was helping, so decided to save it for a better day underfoot.
I am bloomin well amazed at my level of addiction to this running lark and my determination to get out! If you're doing C25K, you have this to come...
Have a good weekend lovely running addicted peeps!
Now, where's that ginger cake... Yuuuuum!!
