OK Boys... advice on leggings....its cold...???

Think I might have to give up wearing shorts as it was really cold last night and don't think its going to improve.

Not sure what they are called, but need some leggings/tights for the winter months so some advice is needed. I really don't want to be a MAMIL (middle aged man in lycra) so "spray on Lycra" may not work for me :-)

Any hints or tips for something suitable for a "tall 50 something" would be welcomed :-)

I bought some "running trousers" :) from Decathlon, but havnt got round to using them yet as not yet cold enough here (4°C).

I understand Rob has bought some running tights, so he should be able to help you out.

I intend to try wearing shorts over the top when I use mine, as I dont want to look lumpy. I think that would be unfair to the rest of the world

I know i am not a boy but my partner loves his running tights after telling me he was never going to wear them. lots of men wear them, don't worry and just go for it you can always wear black shorts over them. Warmth and comfort is key!

I'm managing in Lidl skiwear thermal underwear leggings with fitted black shorts over them, to keep them up...I was having the falling down problem with my 'proper' leggings, so was having to do that anyway and finding it all a bit bulky!! I hate overheating too, so this has worked out fine for me, so far...it was around 2 degrees for their first outing and I expect them to be good enough for the higher minuses, too.

They've been in just over a week, so might be some left...good value IMO (about £10, I think) and are black, so I don't think it's obvious that that's what I'm wearing...and I'm moving soooo fast, you can't notice the details, eh?!! ;-) I think they have bright green in the men's too., which I think are luverly!!

For info...I'm using the skiwear long sleeved top too (a very fetching neon pink), with their merino short sleeved over as I was finding my arms were getting too cold...great combo for me in a range of temp's this week!

Happy running, Andy :D

My Aldi running trousers were used for the first time this autumn on my run this morning, over the top of my Aldi compression shorts and with matching my Aldi compression top, under my Aldi long sleeved running shirt, completed by my Aldi running socks, I was well protected from the frosty air and as warm as toast, without getting too hot,

I can't remember where I got them........

I like Nike Filament full length running pants. For guys and gals. You can get thermal version too but I think normal are warm enough for us in the UK. I ran in mine this morning in 0 degrees and I felt toasty

I've got the Nike filament full length pants for girlies, love them, good for long bodies, but had to keep checking I hadn't forgotten to put them on as you don't feel like you are wearing them lol

I've bought several pairs of men's running tights from Decathlon and Sports Direct. I just buy the special offer, whatever it is. They definitely make a difference in the winter and speaking as another (moderately) tall 50 something, I take your point about the Mamil thing. I wear baggy shorts over the top.

The reality I have found is that no-one takes any notice of what you wear.

Just wear whatever you are comfortable with.

I have a pair of Skins A400 mens running tights which are uber-tight and noone takes a blind bit of notice.

I also have a couple of pairs of Karrimor tights too, but haven't found them anywhere near as supportive or as comfortable as the Skins - but they are a quarter of the price!

I have used mine a few times, ronhill running tights or what ever you want to call them. And yes, I put a pair of shorts over the top as no one really want to show a VPL.

I don't think anyone cares and I don't either when I am trogging along. Maybe helps I am built like a barbarian on a mission. Like they can judge as you come running past, one moment your there the next your gone. :)

Hi Andy , i got some more miles running tights from amazon , not thermal ,just normal :) went out this morning in the heavy frost , lovely and warm , I really luv my tights now :D no shorts over the top either :D

i am over 6ft too Andy was well surprise dhow well they fitted length wise :D

I did my first run in jeans, trainers and my rain jacket !

I thought if someone I know sees me running , I could pretend I was in a rush somewhere . I was so self conscious , I have got over that now , thankfully ! :-) xxx
