Blood pressure

I had my blood pressure checked the other day, all my life I have been at the high end of normal, even as a teenager..148/90. Now I am in then "perfect" range according to the nurse - 130/70...that has to be the running, no other type of exercise has had any effect on my BP. Well chuffed!

Excellent! I have just been on a cruise - have never seen so many elderly (my age) and not no elderly people is all kinds of states of decline - from the morbidly obese to the ones who are so weak in their legs that they can hardly stand by themselves - walking frames, scooters, !!! All eating and drinking to excess.

That's great Curly. I haven't had my BP checked since I started but my resting heartbeat has dropped to 46 bpm from 54 (it had always been mid-40s, but over the last 5 years with little exercise had gone up to mid 50s). Could also mean my heart is slowly grinding to a halt of course!

I thought the same thing lol, my resting heart rate is about 52, not sure what is usually was before, but a few years ago it went up top a worrying 120+, but I think that was the menopause,.

The wretched menopause has got a lot to answer for!

Crikey! Just measuring 120 would be enough to cause cardiac arrest! Very glad you have settled on 52 instead. Looking forward to menopause. NOT.

Mine was fine apart from the weird heart thing. Most people get palpitations. Other than that I am glad not to have to mess around with all that monthly stuff.

It has been remarked that my personal cloud is probably impenetrable even by nuclear attack. But it's a happy planet and I'm pleased to be on it :D

Used to do lots of exercise then a 4/5 year stretch of busy, stressy job, long commute and letting physical well-being slide.

Husband's heart rate was once measured at 28 but that was while he was asleep! He is less obviously 'relaxed' than me though.

P.S. it's not all good, I used to faint a lot as an idle-escent youngster!

Last week when I had my yearly visit to the cardiologist, my np was 120/80. My resting pulse was 72. He proclaimed me to be in perfect health and attributed it to my running. So I guess I'm doing something right. Also my cholesterol has dropped drastically. :)
