Me and after work running are just not getting along, tried again on Tuesday and the horrible tummy pains started about 1k in by about 2.5k I was walking. Around 3k I said come on we can do this. About 3.1k my body said who are you kidding. Horrible tummy pains in waves. 3.5k come on pick those feet up. 3.6k oooh swans let's stop and take a picture.
I ran in fits and starts. Run. Walk. 4.5k I give up. I gave myself a talking to, come on not far and we've done 5k. Oh ok then. Oh look clouds and the setting sun, must stop and take a picture. Come on you can do this... I did actually make it to 5k, but I think I give up on running after work.
Will be setting alarm for 5am and getting out there for a pre- work runs.
So Thursday dawns and its my first pre-work run. Now I had previously stated that I didnt think running before work would be possible but I just had to give it a try as I dont see how I am going to manage otherwise. 5am means no trail running and so my first ever street running experience. Now I had pre-planned my route but erm a road with a name of Sherwood Rise should give a general clue to its nature, I was a little shocked when I got to it. But still I managed better than I thought I would and I will make it all the way to the top..... without walking.......eventually.......one lamp post at a time. I will take Ferd out with me next time though, it was mostly ok but there was a car that spooked me. I think I will also get a high vis something and print out my route map for Mr Mouse.
And finally today - Parkrun and a new PB Garmin clocked 5k at 36.34 (still waiting for official parkrun time but it seems the course is actually a smidge more than 5k).
And I have a new training plan to get me to MoRun, I have used the Asics one - it reckons I can achieve 1:15:12 10k
So that was my week, but I do have an infection brewing so fingers crossed for the coming weeks.

Sorry to hear about your stomach pains Spoonie. I can't run if I've eaten upto 3hours previously, so mornings suit me best too. Congratulations on getting up your hill. Definitely get some high vis kit to help you stay safe
Running any time other than first thing just makes me feel sick. These dark mornings are a problem, though, aren't they? I should invest in a hi viz running vest if I were you. Definitely a good idea to let your OH know your route, just in case anything untoward were to happen.
I agree, and I am hopeless at running after work, I hope pre work is better for you....It does tend to invigorate you for the day. Well done on the PB too
What a great photo spoonie! Wow, you proved you can do it despite everything with a PB to boot! well done, you are one determined lady! I like early morning runs but mine are nearly always in the evening lately, but its hard to fit in everything around work.... ** ( just got a high-viz Gilet in the local charity shop for £3 today, its even a proper running one and has long bit to cover your bum so pleased with that!) I'd love to do a morun, good luck with your new training plan
You certainly are becoming a stranger on here! Was wondering if work was hindering your running, but glad you persevere.
And nothing wrong with running intervals.
Of course Ferd will miss the coots if you run on the road....
Is Sherwood Rise the same as the one in Nottingham? If it is anything like, the I am in awe of anyone managing to run up it! But then, if the Zombies are chasing you.....
