First timer parkrun

After completing this app I've kept up my 🐌 pace of jogging. I've actually have found a route where I can leave the house and jog. I used to drive to a park and do my app there. It's a wonderful feeling when you actually finish jogging for 30 minutes. It's day's you wake up oh its jog time get your kit on and your not feeling it. But once you get out there and do it what a amazing feeling after. Well I've booked up enough courage to register with my local parkrun. It's my first time today so I'll be off for it soon. Quite nervous about it as it will be a different route I'm not used too. Hopefully it doesn't take me to long to complete the 5k wish me luck.

Good luck. I'm just off to a Park Run now too. Only my second as I was having to rest a swollen ankle the last 2 Saturdays. I'm on week 9 so hope to get to the podium next week... !!!

I’ve been trying to pluck up the courage to do our park run, I’m w7r1, think I will wait until I’ve graduated.

Good luck today! It’s a beautiful morning

There is a 'tail walker' and some people just walk it, or run some and walk some. Even if you're last the tail walker will be right with you. Go do it. No need to wait until the podium. It's about exercise and fun and a social occasion. Enjoy!

just go, there is no judgement and no need to wait until you think you can complete 5k. Time doesn't matter and you will feel great for doing it

Woohoo Suzi good luck! It sounds so exciting. You’ll smash it, whether as a gazelle or a snail (I know which I’d be! 🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌), and you’ll feel proud as punch afterwards. πŸ‘Š πŸƒβ€β™€οΈβ€οΈ

Hi fellow members, Home showered and watered. I must say nothing like I expected. I had to run round the running track twice to start of. Then it was more like cross country running in the middle hills, unused train tracks to go over. Then twice around the track to finish off. It was physically and mentally challenging today as I've never ran over 5k before. See picture enclosed I've only ran 5k on my graduation day. I will see that time again. But as it was all new to me today time scale was to be expected. Something to work on. Thanks for your replies this time last year I wouldn't have dared thought I'd be running let alone doing a parkrun. With myself nearly 5 stone lighter aswell.

Well done on your first park run! I’ve done 3 now since graduating and today was my fastest. I found I needed to do a couple of slow (but 5k minimum) recovery runs between park runs, at a much slower pace than the park run, otherwise my calf muscle complains too much! You will get better if you keep on running and putting in the miles - distance is more important than speedπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
