To feel nervous before my first ever parkrun? I could quite easily turn and go home right now... Need a good kick up the butt. I can do this... I ran 4.22k yesterday a little further and it's 5k. Trying hard to knock those little grenlins away ;-) wish me luck!!

Go Go Go - Good luck - but you don't need it - you have you - and you are more than enough to do this. :)

Between you and me - and this is our secret which no-one else can read - but when the gremlins attack - I start hitting them with little punches - to the passerby I either look like a boxer in training or a total idiot - but it works for me!!! Ah - here are the boys with the white jacket....

I was nervous before first Think it's completely natural - it's new environment to run in You'll be thinking can I do , what if I make a fool of myself blah blah So YES you can do it - some people run fast, some slow , some walk / run , some walk . And NO you won't make a fool of yourself . It's great experience and I have always found people very friendly. I always ask the person next to me at the start how many parkruns they have done or comment on weather. Smile or say hello/ thanks to volunteers on way round and they'll smile / clap when you pass them . Just remember it's a run not a race and no matter your time it'll be Personal Best ! You have a great time and let us know how you get on. Oh by the way I still get wee bit nervous every park run - and am on way to do my 30 th one but I love them

How fab, your first Parkrun! I'm soooooo envious! Yes of course you can do it, you don't have to run all of it of course, but I know you'll want to, and I think the other runners will carry you along just so long as you don't set off too fast. You'll be back here in a short while telling us all how wonderful it was! My tip for the gremlins is to tell the where to go, (or "have sex and travel" as my dear old Dad used to say) very loudly, in my South London accent...probably not advisable for a Parkrun! Have fun!

I sat in the car for ages on my first one and nearly went home but stuck with it. It was a super experience. Ignore the racers and enjoy. Thinking of you

I have my first ever 10km race tomorrow and have been nervous all week. ....yikes

Can't wait to hear how you've got on, I hope you managed to use your nerves to work for you! I've not been brave enough to do one yet. You never know, you may just give me the nudge I need?

You'll be fine! Go for it. You can't turn round and go home cos we'd know and we'd have to come round your 'ouse and blow raspberries through your letterbox

Enjoy it! Plant a smile firmly on your face and go for it

Don't go off too quick. First K you can hold a conversation, second K you can hear your breathing (you can stop talking to yourself now), third k you're feeling very warm, 4K you are getting a reddish face, last half K you are on fire. There. Done. Go home and bask in the warm glow of finishing your first Parkrun. Have a lovely time soaking up the atmos!

I'm sure that you are back now with a big smile on your face. It's the nervous wait now for your time to be emailed through.

Do tell us all about how you got on.

I ran behind a lady runner this morning with "Your pace or mine?" on the back of her vest. Ho ho.
