As the weeks go on. I feel any slight twinge on my rest days. I am assuming it's just what happens with running, or I am slowly becoming a hyper condriac ha ha first my knee, then my shin, now my ankle.
Pain or is it just me ;-) : As the weeks go on... - Couch to 5K
Pain or is it just me ;-)
Hee hee no, it's not just you, it's just general running hypochondria -we all have it
Oh I've got twinges in all sorts of interesting places ! I'm sure they can't all be running related
It goes away after a while of running -- EXCEPT for any pain which is ACUTE ( like a knife going in) , this is something to see to - stop running until seen to. Aches and pains, mild shin splints, etc are standard fare for beginner runners.
^^^^ This...
You'll learn over time which of the aches, pains and twinges are normal both when you're out on the run and on the rest days... most are perfectly normal and they are signs your body is adapting to running and are actually good things...
Pain, however, that is intense and sudden as Bazza says is never good... you must stop and get that seen to... don't run if stuff "hurts" and affects your running... it's better to get it checked out...
Have fun!
I have started to wonder if anybody actually comes back from a run and doesn't have any aches, pains or twinges lol
Haha! I think you're probably right Peter_B... but it's usually the "good type"...
I had shin splints really bad when I started weeks one and two... this excersise really helped

Now I don't get them at all, and luckily haven't had any stitches etc
The only pain I'd worry about is if you're getting it in your knees regularly, even if it's mild, if it's ongoing its worth checking out. I know a couple of runners who've both had knee complications as result of running on bad knees that they ignored.
That's the one thing I haven't suffered with is stitch. My knee does alsorts of things while out running, I think I need oiling everyday I have no intense pain though, just twinges every now and then. The pain I did suffer with in my knee at W2 has thankfully gone
It's running! You're feeling it. Your body is changing and things are shifting. You are being stretched every which way and your body is protesting. As you get stronger you will get fitter and the aches will reduce
You have to take care and run slowly. Take the rest days and hopefully you will be ok. It's only when you start trying to progress to quickly that you can get hurt.
Oh, I had myself believing that I was going to need a knee replacement after I began running outdoors. I came to realize that it was the change of environment and I bought a knee brace to wear and now the knee pain is no longer.
