Very frustrated as I cannot run due to a hamstring strain. I have followed all the advice - rest, ice, compression…. and after 3 days it is much better. I will leave it a bit longer but am chomping at the bit to get back to it. Has anyone had this and how long did you wait when 'pain-free' to start running again? I have a race in 4 weeks and am keen to get back to my training plan but don't want to re-injure myself so I put myself out of the race. Sigh !! Just goes to show what a drug this running lark becomes when you can't do it any more!

it is a bit sad that you didn't get a reply - I'm assuming after 8 years it is better now... I've just hurt mine and did a search : )
Hi PrimaBallerinaThanks for the reply after 8 years ha ha. Sorry you are having the same trouble with your hamstring. I am still running 8 years on and the hamstring is now stable. My only advice after several injuries is to take it really slow when starting to run again after a strain - it saves injury time in the long term. Hope you feel better soon.
