Completed my 3rd 30 minute run this morning. I did carry on for 2 min 30 seconds longer to reach 4k. I was so excited I was jumping with excitement in my head as the garmin watch reached 30 minutes lol.
I can't believe I've finally got there. I started at the end of April, just after my 42nd birthday never having run before and never wanting to (and totally unfit and never having enjoyed exercise), had a couple of weeks rest with a knee injury, but can honestly say that I've got the bug!!
Husband and I have now signed up for a Run or Dye event in October, so now I've got my next target to aim for (to be able to run for 5k). And we are also talking of doing a local park run, but think I'd like to know that I can run 5k first. I think it will be a very long while (or maybe even never) before I can run at his speed, but I'm not bothered about that.
Off to download the stepping stones and stamina apps to see what they are all about. And maybe the zombie app too. So excited lol. And perhaps I deserve some new running kit too?!
Anyone just starting, keep going, it DOES work!

Superb Kazzy. You've done it. Absolutely deserve your new running kit - there is even a C25K running shirt. New challenges too - you'll have a great time. Well Done !!!
Congratulations and very very well done Kazzy. That shiny new graduate badge really suits you. Take the time to build up your distances gradually, no more than 10% a week to avoid injury, and enjoy your running. It really is the best, isn't it?
Well done! Many congrats and whoop whoops. If you want a real Graduate Badge they are selling them here for £6, I just ordered mine. There is a post knocking about here. You've probably already spotted it
The Stepping Stones podcasts are fab. Get doing them after your rest day.
Brilliant, well done you! You should be feeling very proud. I can recommend parkrun, they are fantastic. Its great you have the Run or Dye event lined up too. Enjoy your running x
Thank you all the kind and encouraging replies. Yes I must remember the 10% rule. I will make sure I stick to that. I've had one taste of the injury couch, and it's not the most comfortable place to be
Many congratulations to you ! It is an amazing feeling and you should be very proud of your achievement.
This programme really works doesn't it ? Its funny to think back to the first anxious steps on W1R1 , and now here you are running for 30mins non stop !
All the very best on your running adventures ! xxx
Congratulations!!! Love to read about people graduating. I'm close myself now and reading about other peoples' success just keeps motivating me to get out there!!
