I've just completed C25K week 6 run 2. I think it's the best programme for getting fit gradually. I have been to gyms and I would go mad and end up aching all over, and not be able to move. But with the C25K having a rest the day after makes it easier to progress the next day.
Enough waffling the question I want to ask is when I graduate after week 9 run 3, I want to treat my self to a watch /wristband to be able to measure my progress etc.
There just seems so many to choose from, I don't want to buy one that does too much. I'm 54 and not likely to be an Olympic athlete. If I progress enough wouldn't mind building up to 10 k and possibly half marathon.
Have any of you any recommendations on which to get?
Thanks John.

I got the Garmin Forerunner 10, and I know loads on here have them too. I love mine! I like the auto pause and virtual pacer functions. I got mine from T*sco
I have a Garmin 610. Top of the range when I bought it a few weeks before graduation but superseded by the 620 now. No idea if age is important but I'm 51 if that helps. It has never let me down and has a million and one functions of which I use...... half a dozen. It's a great piece of kit, but if I'm honest, it's overkill for me.
If you' re like me, you need something that will record time, distance and split times (KM or miles or whatever) as a minimum. A heart rate monitor is something that many swear by, but I've had one for a year and barely used it.You wlll want to upload your run data somewhere and Garmin do have a good website for that purpose and there is a good hinterland of mobile apps that support it.
I wear my 610 as my day-to-day watch and its perfectly good for that too, where it also acts as my running Jiminy Cricket!!!
aldi had some watches gps type recently, I was in our store this eek and they had some left. they looked great value but I was bought one for Christmas. ,mine is a soleus one and ive found it fab, better value then the equivalent garmin one, but occasionally takes a long while to get gps signal. I know a lady who has garmin foreruner 10 who loves it and finds it really easy to use. lots of people also seem to use garmin forerunner 110, for me if i hadnt bought the soleus I would have gone for the 110. happy shopping
I went for a garmin 220 and I like it because like with all garmins they are simple to use. they have a good range depending on what your looking for, the website is good to compare models.
