Got up extra early to try and avoid the humid stormy weather. Completed the run and feel really tired but now have 3 blisters on one foot. Ouch they hurt, I wear the double socks and have a good pair of trainers so what else can I do? It was really sticky weather and wonder if it is just the heat on my feet......help.

Wk7R1 done - advice for blisters please!
I ended up with one the other day, think it may have just been the heat! The compeed blister plasters are very good for healing and unlike plasters they actually stay on!
Followed both your advice and Windswept1 and went to the chemist to buy som Compeed. I'll let you know after my next run if that helps! Thanks for your advice, much appreciated.
I've just remembered a book I recently read called " running like a girl" (brilliant book by the way!). The writer, a female who writes about her running journey from nothing to marathons says that before every run she smothers her feet in Vaseline! Haven't tried it but may be a cheap preventative!
Hi Em, I have just borrowed this from the library, havent read it yet, really looking forward to reading it tho just got to finish my other one first. Hoping to pick up loadsa tips from it xxx
Definitely go for Compeed. They are good as preventative as well. I tried doubly socks but found them very uncomfortable so gave up on them.
Think about why you got a blister it could be a one off due to the heat and getting extra sweaty but it could also be your trainers if you are now hitting longer distances.
Get proper running socks, I wouldn't recommend wearing two pairs of socks as surely you are increasing the risk of friction causing blisters. you can also use products like bodyglide to help prevent chaffing. check the fit of your trainers, I had terrible trouble cause I have wide feet and my original trainers just weren't giving my feet enough room, there are also different lacing methods to help with different problems.
My feet ended up a literal bloody mess, new trainers helped massively along with proper running socks and body glide.
Blister plasters were initially a help but a word of warning for me over time they actually compounded the problem.
Well done for completing the run Milan - Great job! Much better than my efforts this morning
Hi Mamma Mia, what happened to you then? Your post sounds like your well and truly fed up. Your fellow runners are here for you
Hi Milan - Thanks for your concern, I was well fed up this morn!!!!!! I tried the Wk6R3 first thing as planned but it was singularly rubbish .... and that's being polite! I didn't think I had gone out too fast and I tried a flatter route but things just weren't happening, so I probably did the completely unforgivable and bailed out
It's probably due to a combination of things like the heat, running outside, having "gymmed" last night (instead of my usual Thursday session), not having a drink with me (which I usually do if I'm doing a Sat morn treadmill run), hormones ....... who knows
Anyway, a bad run day is better than a no run day, and I'm gonna try it again on Wednesday on the treadmill, dial in a slow speed and see what happens.
Well done again on getting your second 25min run completed - great stuff!!!!!
MM
I expect an update on Wednesday then! I nearly had one failure which was Wk6R1 but I kept telling myself to be positive and just managed to keep going. I do have a running buddy as well, I'm sure without her I would not have completed that run! Positive mental attitude is all you will need. I just keep thinking how far I've come since Wk1. Come on you have done brilliantly, put this behind you and push on. We are relying on you, good luck believe in yourself.
I haven't ever got a blister. I wear proper running socks.
I run in bamboo socks; no problems yet. I have my second 25 minute run tomorrow morning. It's got to be early for me; I know I would be terrible trying to run in the heat. Best of luck to everyone on here who is running tomorrow- I will think of you as I push through the 25!!
