Race readiness plan...

So folks - here's the plan... thoughts on a postcard please? :)

Tuesday this week was a quick (relatively speaking of course) 4K

Saturday is going to be another 10K (I need double-convincing I can do it!) - same or better time preferred!

Wednesday will be a 30 minute run ONLY (don't care about distance - just 30 minutes of running)

And that my friends - will be IT until my race on Saturday..

I must admit I'm getting quite nervous now! I'm sure it'll all be fine on race day but the butterflies have started early! 10 days to go... 1200 runners... oh dear... :)

Just looking at my 10 k plan and it recommends just two runs in the week leading up to race day. Rest day on Friday if racing on Saturday (which you are). The two runs are both 4.8 km - one at race pace and the other a jog. The weekend before the race is a 9.7 km fast

I suppose it's easier to be anonymous in such a big crowd of runners, so I take that as a plus point

I think it's natural to be nervous but on the day I doubt you'll have time

Thanks - not miles away (hehe) from my plan...

looking forward to it as well of course but its so close now its a bit nervy.

have a load of friends coming to cheer me on.. No walking now I guess! Lol.. Awesome though that they're coming to support what (for me) is a pretty big point in my life... :)

That sounds a sensible plan, I didn't follow a training plan with for my 10k but did similar to you, ran a slow 10k weekend before, ran 30 min on Wed and the 10k was Sun, conserving the energy is the thing at this stage. It's natural to be nervous but you've done the training and you'll be fine - enjoy! :-)

Thanks - I really want to show myself (and a few others) I can do this... I'm as ready as I ever will be for my first!

You'll be absolutely fine, Aussie. ☺Nerves are normal, so try not to worry. Get everything laid out the night before so there's no pre-race nervous faffing. Attach your race number the night before as well; doing it in the morning of the race will only lead to frustration!

You'll have a great race; looking forward to hearing all about it!

Hi Aussie,

I have no experience of this but I have complete faith that you know what's right for your body now. Also, I think you'll have such excitement and adrenaline on the day you'd made it to 10K with breeze-blocks on your feet.

We'll all be there cheering alongside your 'real life' friends :)

Let us know how the rest of the prep goes, and try not to worry

I made sure not to invite anyone! Less pressure.
