I have a race on Saturday do people agree it’s ok to do a light 20 minuet run today so I’m not resting for 2 days. Or would it be best to rest
Should I rest 2 days before a race. - Couch to 5K
Should I rest 2 days before a race.
Depends how you feel, don't see any problem ongoing for a light 20-minute run, personally, I would miss 72 hours before a race or a 5k, 10K run, just take it very lightly, slowly, good luck for the race on Saturday.
A little jogette before a run is great..keeps the legs relaxed.. Short and sweet.
I do, also, agree with IannodaTruffe , it is so dependent on you as a runner...and your routines... I know I shall feel more relaxed. if I do a turn around the block on the Friday before my HM on the Sunday... just because it is my normal routine... But, it will be very short and very steady and relaxed
I’d go for a short easy recovery run, I generally run better just after a slow short one.
Well I am going to contradict the others, based on my own experience, but not of races. Many of my PBS have come after a period of rest from running. While training plans normally taper off and often suggest a very gentle jog the day before a race, I believe that they are based on the regimes of elite runners and that most relatively new runners are going to perform better after a period of rest.
Only my opinion........
